The old school house is a beautiful building that is full of character. We stayed here with four adults and 3 children and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house is beautifully decorated and has plenty of toys, games, books, cds, and DVDs to suit everyone on a wet day!
The house is fantastically located to reach loads of different locations and there is so much to do there is never enough time! You definitely need a car as the house is in a rural location. The lady next door is a delight and really friendly which was lovely to find! Helen the owner is very friendly and really accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. Can't recommend this house enough!
A warning. Holiday inn or Travelodge this is not. If this is what you want,
then move on. BUT if you like a wonderful and delightful place run by an articulate, cultured and educated couple then this it. It is an oasis of art, music and literature. The original art work, history, books and location make this a must as something totally different. Gregory is very well educated and a mine of knowledge. Basil Fawlty he is not; so what a bonus to have an Oxford Ph.D. to chat with instead of the usual waiter. And so to breakfast in the library cum dining room. We were the only two there and so it was made for us personally and perfectly. One feels like you are dining with friends and it is a joy to be welcomed into a home as a paying guest but to be treated almost as family.
Oh the house and room and things. 1840. Penny Black year! Stayed in a family room with single beds and "down the corridor" "lavatory and bathroom which is yours. The bath was a little younger than my grandfather but LARGE, O joy!
The house is decorated and arranged in a perfect way. It is right on the border with Scotland and convenient for Lindisfarne and Berwick upon Tweed.
Just glorious. ... I loved it! !
Well done. ...
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in the old school. The owner was very helpful. My daughter particularly enjoyed the bear corner and my two sons enjoyed the murder mystery games. The cottage is situated on the border between Scotland and England.
