Had a wonderful dinner and great service. Good range of choices but advise booking as very popular. Monkfish flambé in Pernod was just the best.

We had a very good meal here, which was let down by very poor service.

Excellent starter of potted crab & brown shrimp, followed by delicious halibut with crushed potatoes, samphire, carrots and broccoli. The pancetta (wrapped around the halibut) could have been crisper, but the fish was excellent.

The service was a combination of the inept (young staff) and surly/grudging (older staff). Finished plates of food languished on 3 tables (including ours) for a very long time indeed and were simply not noticed by the waiting staff. The chef came out and gave an enormous amount of attention to some diners who had complained about their meal, but ignored everyone else.

We felt neither welcomed nor cared about and this took the edge off the good food. We did not return. The rating reflects our overall experience.

Many thanks for the review and we're glad you enjoyed your meals. We can only apologise for the service you received and will look into this further. We will look at holding a staff training session to ensure this doesn't happen again and once again we're sorry about the service issues

Whilst on holiday in Northumberland and exploring the coastline, we happened upon the Salt Water Cafe whilst looking for somewhere to have lunch. We ordered roast beef, pork belly and lamb shank and we couldn’t fault any of it. It was a really lovely meal and I would recommend this place to anyone!!

We stayed in Beadnell last week and ate at Salt Water Cafe twice. Breakfast was fantastic I had the buttermilk pancakes with berries and creme fraiche, my husband had the full Northumbrian and my daughter had a toasted teacake with butter and jam. Generous portions of delicious food. Another day we tried lunch, this time with my parents. Again, could not fault it. Between us we had 5 different dishes : a very generous jacket potato with cheese and beans, a prawn sandwich, lobster ravioli, fish cakes with salad and new potatoes and the house club sandwich. Very reasonable price would highly recommend to anyone staying in the area.

We have eaten twice here in the last week - a competitively priced, nicely appointed and relaxing bistro cafe. Serving high restaurant quality evening fare.
Excellent menu with freshest ingredients, cooked by a great chef. Served by welcoming, friendly staff.

Would strongly suggest booking, as very popular - or wait outside for it to open @ 18:00 and hope there is an un-reserved table
