My wife ask the person/chef behind the fir a table for 2. His reponse was yes, but maybe a little slower than usual as he was running the bar as well.

Was taken to an empty restaurant and seated by the bay window, overlooking the garden

Young friendly waitress took our order from the limited menu.
We waited and waited and noticed that the person behind the bar, wearing a chef jacket was still serving drinks in the bar. Obviously our meal we order was not yet started, as the kitchen was at the other end of the pub.

We decided to finish our drinks, and eat at a nearby restaurant.

30+ years ago this pub was extremely busy day and night. Direct knowledge!

Went to the Overstone arms for dinner with friends and we all had a lovely evening. Food was great all courses were enjoyed by us all, the best fish and chips I have had for a long time.We were welcomed by a really welcoming gentleman, and served by friendly staff. Although there were two parties going on , we were served promptly.Strongly recommend.

Been twice now- average to good food. Nice atmosphere and allows dogs. Looking forward to sitting in the garden, when the weather is nicer.

Booked a couple of days prior to visit (Saturday evening), no need as just 4 tables occupied throughout the evening, how does this enterprise pay?

Four of us had a good selection off the menu
Staff were nice people
Young children noise and running in & out of the restaurant may not be to everybody’s liking

Service ok, food ok, bill ok
Steak undercooked so went back, chef mis-read the ticket! No problem dealt with properly

All four of us had experienced this pub/restaurant infrequently at various times & owners over the last 30 years or so
Would we rush back, not really, there are plenty of these types of pubs/restaurants providing OK food so in essence it was pleasant enough, could do with an improved ambience as a consequence of attracting more customers, young kids optional

Would however return to experience their advertised Sunday lunch

I had a starter of Mushroom and Leek soup, which I could not taste or see any leek in it and it was a thin soup with big chunks of mushroom in it, also the Menu quoted crusty bread, a bland piece of pre sliced bog standard square bread came out. I asked both waitress for crusty bread, they both replied we don't have any without apology.
The sunday carvery which I opted for was served with cold meat on a stone cold plate, however the veg serve was good and hot, but not enough roast potatoes and too many boiled potatoes. the sunday roast over all was acceptable, but standards are slipping at this restaurant.
