“Beautiful cottage in idyllic Dales village ”
Reviewed 31 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

What a lovely cottage! We stayed here during the October half term with our 3 children and Labrador. Hillcrest is a perfect location for exploring the local area and we took day trips to Durham, Ripon, Knaresborough and more local villages all of which are within an hours drive away. The house itself is well-furnished with 2 log burning stoves and super comfy beds. Low Row is a quiet Dales hamlet with great walks/runs from the front door and the local pub (Punchbowl Inn) is great for an early evening pint by the fire. In all, well worth a stay and the owner was very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay.

“Perfect base to explore the Dales”
Reviewed 18 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Our week at Hillcrest Cottage was perfect. I was brought up in a Dales cottage (in the 1940’s without electricity or central heating) so this visit was a both a sentimental return and an opportunity to introduce my wife to the Dales. Hillcrest did not disappoint: it is clean & modern on the inside, but a true Dales cottage on the outside. It is well equipped, cozy and comfortable, with fabulous views from every window. Located in the heart of Swaledale, it is in a great location to explore all the Dales. I would unhesitatingly recommend Hillcrest cottage and hope to return soon!

“Delightful Holiday Cottage”

Hillcrest Cottage was delightful, cosy and very comfortable, with lovely views over The Dales. I would certainly recommend it as an ideal holiday cottage for exploring this part of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. There were three very comfortable bedrooms, although none were en suite, but with a very good shower room downstairs & a bathroom upstairs. It also had the added advantage of having a Gastro Pub within easy walking distance, however we enjoyed eating in most nights, preparing our meals in the very well equipped kitchen. Glenda, the owner was very friendly and helpful, and at the end of the phone if we had any queries. As the mobile phone signal was very limited inside the cottage (OK outside) a land line was provided in the cottage. I would certainly recommend doing an online shop or bringing provisions with you as the nearest big supermarket was 15 miles away.

“Cosy, great base for Swaledale, lovely views”

My family of four, plus one dog, loved staying at Hillcrest Cottage.
Attractively situated in a slightly elevated position on the green in Low Row with great views across the Dale, the house has everything you need for a trip to the Dales in winter... two wood-burners, underfloor heating in the downstairs bathroom, a utility / boot-room and spare dog towel!

The kitchen was well equipped and the king-size bed in the upstairs bedroom was very comfy.

A great stay and we plan to return... thank you to Glenda for the home-baked scones.

“Fabulous Cottage in a Stunning Location”
Reviewed 17 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

In an ideal location on Low Row, Hillcrest offers the flexibility of both a relaxing 'get away from it all' break to simply chill and enjoy the stunning views of the Dales or in our case a fabulous base to explore Swaledale on foot and explore the delights of the dales.

Newly renovated to a high standard, the location of the living room on the first floor seems the natural choice to appreciate the fantastic views on offer after a tiring day on the dales. Having rented many cottages, nothing seems to have been over looked by the owners at Hillcrest, from the fruit loaf that welcomes you to the high quality mattresses and pillows (greatly appreciated!) and the well placed dog towels as you enter from the side door in the utility (blessing!). A well stocked log and coal bunker is something which again is appreciated and not often seen in rentals! Thank you once again for your kindness Glenda and sharing this special place, nothing was ever a trouble - see you soon!
