I took two young children with me, and was delighted with the reception we recieved from the staff. Although not child orientated, the restaurant does provide a CLEAN highchair (a novelty in many restaurants).
Our food order was taken efficiently and the food, whilst cooked to order, arrived soon after. The portions were just right, both adult and childrens', and the food delicious. The staff were conscious of their diners and quick to offer further service as required, but never overpowering.
The view from the windows over the castle keep and down the market square is timeless and beautiful. The general ambiance of the small restaurant is relaxing and calm - perfect after a busy morning exploring the many and varied small lanes and footpaths, not to mention the climb up from the River Swale!
I think this calm environment helped to ensure that the children in my care remained relaxed too - indeed their behaviour was praised by two parties of diners as we left
