Description: The George and Dragon Inn is a timeless Victorian gastro pub nestled in the Yorkshire Dales National Park complete with a crackling log fire, traditional ales on tap, a patio with views of Pen Hill and rustic walls decorated with framed sketches. We couldn't think of a cosier place to settle in with a bottle of red than the George and Dragon Inn's down-to-earth dining room, and apparently we're not the only ones. With one AA Rosette under its belt, the restaurant is a popular spot for Sunday roasts, afternoon tea and hearty evening meals, and the modern British menu includes signature dishes such as the roast Nidderdale chicken breast served with smoked applewood risotto.

We called in here mid - walk, and had a chat with a couple who had just demolished their steak and ale pies, and gave them the thumbs up. A good sign!

Mrs B had the sea bass which she thought were excellent. It came with saute potatoes, chorizo and samphire. I chose the chicken from the specials board, and it certainly was special. The blue cheese sauce and dauphinoise potatoes were excellent. The dishes arrived with a large bowl of vegetables - beautifully cooked broccoli and small whole carrots.
There is obviously a very competent chef working his magic here.
Puddings - local rhubarb, meringue and ice cream was declared to be absolutely delicious.

8 hungry walkers enjoyed a variety of really enjoyable meals at this pub on Easter Sunday afternoon. They arrived on very hot plates (much appreciated but seldom achieved at other places) and were cooked to perfection. The waitress was very good and connected with us in a very friendly manner. All in all a great round off to the day.

The bar/restaurant was by no means busy when we were there (one other couple eating and a single drinker), but the barmandidn't seem to be able to cope with the 'rush' and when he did communicate gave the clear impression that he would rather be somewhere else (which after about the first 30 minutes we wish we were too). Food was okay 'though - so no complaints there (reasonably priced too).

Stayed here in our motor home, landlord very friendly and helpful. We had a meal on the night and the quality was second to none. Couldn't fault it.
