Visited to take part in a Murder Mystery event - bed, breakfast, 3 course evening meal and the entertainment for less than £90 per couple.

Check-in was smooth, we were given all the info needed for the evening along with a menu sheet to make our choices for the meal.

Our rooms, set in the eaves weren't the hugest of rooms, ours appeared mor spacious due to the layout of the beds, which were clean and comfy.

The wet room style bathroom with a walk in shower was lovely and clean, with complimentary toiletries, it's a shame our fan wouldn't stop working unless we removed the key card from the socket.

The Spa area was relaxing, we had pre booked massages, I must say I have had better, the therapist tended to use her knuckles and my lower back still feels very tender a day later!!

The entertainment and dinner were excellent, as was the buffet breakfast the next morning, which we ate in the bar area as everyone seemed to come down for breakfast at the same time, this had already been set up for diners.

All in all an excellent weekend and we look forward to revisiting.

This hotel is very well appointed with comfortable rooms, inviting common areas and an extremely good restaurant with efficient, friendly service.
Unusually these days, individual orders are taken for breakfast and the food is clearly cooked to order - wonderful!!

The All Day Bar Menu offers a good selection if only you could order it! Soup of the day is only actually available half a day, every day at 2pm. Couldn’t have Goatscheese and beetroot because the beetroot was off so I elected to have the Brie wedges (a starter) served as a main meal. This was ok but it was literally the wedges and lots and lots of lettuce. My husband had bullet peas and watery battered cod. Staff were not sure if there were any desserts but luckily we had a choice of two and they were both delicious. The young man behind the bar was very polite and curtious. Definitely not worth a visit especially as it is in the middle of nowhere.

We arrived for a two night stay on a deal. Staff on arrival friendly as was the bar staff. The evening meal (part of the deal) on the first night was fine but the service was like a pit stop. No break between starter, main course and dessert and the staff looked like they were watching to whip your plate away at the first opportunity.

Th breakfast was OK but staff were slow to replenish things such as bread for toast and eggs etc. People having to wait while the rest of the food goes cold is never good.

It's also in the middle of nowhere really and we had to travel over 20 miles to Lincoln to see anything other than miles of road.

Shame really as the good bits were good.

We stayed as a family of 3 for two nights using the 'Gift Experience' voucher.

First impressions were good with a modern reception and friendly staff on check in. We had booked a family room (502) but this was in a section that was clearly awaiting modernisation. The carpet was very worn, the furnishings were well past their best and the bathroom was in need or new fixtures however, all that said, the room was very clean. The beds were small but comfortable and I actually had two good nights sleep. It was certainly peaceful with not much noise outside or inside.

We made good use of the swimming pool and, like our bedroom, the changing rooms were in desperate need of modernisation and refurbishment but were clean. The pool was great and so was the steam room and sauna.

Our package did not include breakfast but I was loathed to pay £10 per adult and £5 a child per day for breakfast so we opted to pop in to Asda in Grantham and buy some cereal, milk and porridge pots to have in the bedroom each morning! If breakfast was included then so be it but I felt this was far too expensive.

All the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. As mentioned in another review, The Olde Barn is in the middle of nowhere so having a car is essential.

Overall it was a pleasant stay but I wouldn't rush back.
