Having a mini break with my wife and our dog. The chalet is perfectly situated a stones throw from the beach and lovingly decorated with well chosen period furniture and ornaments. An utter delight.
Sam and John were very welcoming, leaving milk, eggs and fresh flowers. John met us and showed us around the chalet, a warm welcome included a lit coal fire. Although the weather wasn't great, we were never bored. Lots of local history, games, books and a great old record player with LPs! It was a great trip down memory lane but with the added bonus of running hot water, electricity, heating and Wifi! It was very pet friendly with bowls and throws provided. Sam and John have done a fantastic job with the old girl, just wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back.
fantastic chalet a gem instantly back in 50s with just the right amount of mod cons.Brilliant and friendly hosts greeted with a lovely cuppa at the risk of it getting booked so im unable to revisit i would urge anyone to visit this little piece of 1950s heaven.
What a wonderful place, and such a warm welcome. The care and attention that has been lavished on this chalet is marvelous. It took me right back to the halcyon days of my youth but with some mod cons, Sky TV and the internet along with the real fire made for very comfortable nights in. There is plenty to do within easy access both during the day and in the evening. Walks along the beach (with stunning views of the estuary) good food and drink in the local pubs and restaurants.
I will most certainly stay again and cannot recommend this chalet enough. The owners are lovely and give you such a warm welcome it makes it home from home you'd think that you had known them as good friends for years.
Well! What a truly amazing place!
A friend and I stayed at Era to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have picked better. As lovers of all things "vintage" the chalet was like a dream come true. You can certainly see the time, effort and attention to detail the owners have lavished upon it. Incredibly warm and welcoming - we felt immediately at home (so much so we discussed having the locks changed and refusing to leave!)
We had originally planned on an evening out on the Saturday but loved being in the chalet so much we cancelled and stayed in with the fabulous vintage record player and a glass of wine instead!
Sam and John were great, they met us at the train station and drove us to Era. When we arrived there was a lovely, crackling fire to greet us along with fresh flowers, milk and eggs from the owners chickens. They showed us around and were very friendly and welcoming, such a lovely couple.
The chalet has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a long or short stay, everything had been considered, from all the "mod-cons" to many interesting and eclectic vintage items. Not a thing was missing.
The fact that the chalet faces the sea and is just a few steps away is glorious, we had a lovely long, breezy walk along the beach before heading back to stoke up the fire and enjoy a pot of tea.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing time and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Era to anyone - in fact I have already done so!
So thank you Sam and John for sharing such an idyllic piece of history, we look forward to staying again soon x
