“A lovely place to stay in Margate”
Reviewed 4 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

My husband and I stayed in "Sweet Dreams" for a month. It is a lovely apartment with wonderful views of the English Channel/North Sea. We love that it is such an easy walk to the "heart" or Margate and yet far enough to be a bit more quiet. We walked to the beach every evening at sunset for the spectacular colors.

Although there are many wonderful restaurants within easy walking distance, there is a grocery store just around the corner and the kitchen is very nicely equipped for those times we wanted to stay in and cook.

The owners, Jim and Gemma, were very helpful and responsive the two times we needed to contact them.

We would definitely recommend Sweet Dreams to anyone staying in Margate.

Liked best: The design and the view.
Liked least: No washing machine, and limited storage for putting away clothes. A curtain to conceal the hanging rails and a dresser would be great.

“Sweet dreams and sunny days”

We stayed at Sweet Dreams for 10 days and we had a fantastic time. My children were so excited to find the sweetie jars, the dressing up box and the juke box - as their ages range from 5 to 12 it's no mean feat to find something that they all get excited about!

The location and accommodation were perfect. Handy for beach, Dreamland, Turner Gallery and Old Town. Some great places to eat within walking distance and supermarket in the next street. There's also a good viking themed park along the seafront - my children scooted along the promenade to get there. We were very lucky to have had gorgeous weather so took advantage of the beaches nearby (Margate, West Bay and Minnis).

Lots of nice and unexpected touches in the apartment like the mini kite and buckets for sandcastles. Comfortable beds and plenty of room for us to use the extra (inflatable) bed for one child in the main bedroom. And the perfectly placed sofa for gazing at clouds and ships that sail by. We hope to return!

“Cheek, chic and cheerful”

Here's the scene. You're in a light-flooded second-floor flat overlooking parkland and uninterrupted sea. There's the gentle sound of seagulls. You feel as though you're the luckiest person ever to have friends with such a cool flat you can rent… They've got novels on their shelves you want to read, puzzles and games you want to play, and a huge TV and DVDs you want to watch flopped in that big fatboy cushion. And even if it's not actually your mate's place -- it's a holiday rental, you feel like it's your pals which is why you're so grateful and the vibe is so friendly. Everything is user-friendly and fully stocked, with way more fun sprinkled over the proceedings than you usually get. As the sign says above the jukebox (oh yes: JUKEBOX!) "Don't let your dreams be dreams." The bathrooms are pristine. They encourage you to picnic outside in the thoughtful handy notes (including Tupperware is a considerate touch). The selection of music in the Firebird jukebox, the box dressing up, the graphic design touches all reflects the owners' personalities… You can just tell Sweet Dreams in Margate has been created by a couple who are kind and generous and fun-loving with excellent taste, their own individual style and they're cultured but not pretentious. And who better to rent a holiday flat from a few minutes' walk from the best of all that Margate has to offer?
