Wonderful characterful house with everything you need for a holiday. Location excellent, right on the front with (as described) stunning sea views. You can sit in the window seat and watch the world go by. The promenade is ideal for a flat walk in the evening after a good meal.
Deal is a great location for a stay and we'd definitely like to visit again; it has an almost old fashioned charm with a very friendly atmosphere. There's a great high street with lots of independent shops which are very pleasant to wander around though some have limited opening hours eg closed part of the week - this was also the case with some restaurants. If we do get back to Deal we'd love to stay at the same house. I can quite understand why it has excellent reviews as the owners have made great efforts to make it somewhere you'd want to return to. I had serious house envy and didn't want to leave!
As the house is based over three floors it wouldn't be ideal for people with mobility issues but there is certainly lots of space to spread out. The outside shower is a nice touch so after a dip in the sea you can rinse off. The kitchen is well stocked and the decking outside the large centre floor living room is ideal for a glass of wine in the evening!
You can walk into the town centre in a couple of minutes where there are plenty of eateries to choose from. We enjoyed several meals out but the most notable was at Victuals & Co which we can highly recommend. Also much enjoyed was the micropub Just Reproach where all the staff were exceptionally friendly and the beer was excellent.
There are loads of great places to visit nearby; we particularly liked Canterbury and took a lovely boat trip. We also enjoyed a walk to the lighthouse along the White Cliffs of Dover; obviously great sea views but also an excellent bird's eye view of the workings of the port.
Ideal location within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and directly opposite the beach.
House well equipped and spacious.
This is a large house, bigger than I imagined it would be. It is very clean and comfortable and the kitchen is a pleasure to use. We found a local Sainsbury's, a short drive away and made a couple of meals in-house, but mostly ate out. The bathroom on the top floor has underfloor heating, so nice for bare feet. We stayed during a freezing cold week, which was a pity, but we curled up in front of the tv and just 'chilled' mostly. This is a nice house to relax in, very spacious and warm with lots of DVDs to watch (would recommend "The Intern") and books to read. So if you want to get away from it all to relax, this is ideal. The local high street has little quaint shops and is a short walk from the house. We got lots of exercise in this house just walking up the two flights of stairs and back and forth to the kitchen! Liz, the owner, is most helpful to sort out any glitches, as is Rachel, the cleaner.
