I howled with laughter at the 1 star review from someone who took their children to Private Widdle Social Club - sooo not for children! I have to say I'm grateful every week for this fabulous venue - it provides everything from live music bands, international stars, talks, classical music, regular clubs, choirs, adult education classes, cheeky cabaret, live broadcasts from national theatres etc, wedding and party venue, U3A venue... endless chameleon changes for myriad activities and every event feels like the venue is made just for that event. Great bar literally a few steps away from the auditorium, great food in the Herb Garden café during the day in the bar and pre-show meals at selected performances. Free parking in the evening right next door, close to Deal station as well. Truly wonderful management and staff, my life would be very much the poorer without it. Thank you all at Astor.

A traditional little theatre that has xmas panto's performed by former Royal Marines just for adults, always a laugh. Plenty of big names have done giggs here including Toyah, Hazel O'connor and comedians such as Sean Locke.

Herb Garden Cafe is a new licensed venture within the Astor Theatre. The young couple who have taken it over have an extensive background in catering. They know what they are doing and have good coffee and an imaginative menu at great prices. They have done some private catering for me in the past and produce top class dishes that never fail to delight. This new enterprise deserves the fullest support.

We have been to the Astor on many occasions and our favourite performances are from The Astor Palm Court Orchestra which is held once a month on a Thursday afternoon. Mainly there are two musicians who play violins, one who plays a Viola and another who plays the cello. The musicians are all professionals who play in the various major orchestras in the country. The afternoon comprises of listening to a wide range of classical & modern music & chit chat & banter from the group, tea & cake in the interval and a small cloakroom ticket style raffle raising funds for local charities. The musicians also take their musical experience into schools & community groups. Once a year; usually in August the full orchestra plays, and this is a not to be missed concert! There are also many other professional & tribute acts who play here as well as other community activities on offer. Deal Radio also broadcasts from here. If you’re staying in Deal it’s well worth checking up to find out what’s on.
