“Can't believe this is a metro park”

Reviewed 8 August 2018

The park has a large shady area to picnic. If you cross the bridge, you go back in time to when canal boats were the way to travel. A reproduction of a canal boat is docked in the canal. There is a mile tow path that is in use by mule, mule driver, and canal boat Wednesday-Saturday for a $7 fee. The boat actually goes through a functioning lock. The mill is in excellent condition and has many hands-on items, maps, informational readings from canal times.

The mule pulled boat ride was educational, relaxing and entertaining. Mark or "Skeeter" was an excellent story teller. He told you the story and history of the canal in character. He is hilarious!! Dave played a song he made up about the mules Sally and Molly also very funny. It's a must do experience! Willy was the mill keeper. He was also entertaining and informative. Just an overall excellent crew. The mule keeper let you pet Molly and Sally at the end of the ride. Loved it!!

This was so much fun. We couldn't have asked for a better Canal boat ride. "Skeeter" was awesome and I would do it again just to hear "Skeeter" and his tales.

Great field trip for our private school group. Hands on learning on the second story of the mill and great lessons and demonstrations in the other areas. Everything has been cared for so well. I felt like it was a good value. We had to work around some heavy rain on our first scheduled date and were happy that they worked with us in scheduling our large group. The river views nearby were beautiful.

Nice view of the river and dam. Looks like it would be a great place for a family picnic. Walked to pathway to the Ludwig mill. Just a great place to relax.
