Description: The Stockton Cross is a 16th century black and white pub in situated in glorious Herefordshire countryside just off the A49 between Ludlow and Leominster. It has been restored to its former glory as a proper country pub and dining room. The food focuses on what's fresh and local. There is an impressive selection of local ales and ciders as well as an extensive wine list. There's also a selection of 20+ gins! There's also a large and sunny garden at the front

Visited once late Summer 2016. Classic country pub setting. Tasty roast dinner. Decent portions, well presented. Reasonably priced. Friendly but not over-attentive service. Overall, a very good experience. Would definitely return.

Went to this great country pub for Sunday lunch 2 weeks ago. 5 of us and my dog who was made extremely welcome. There are free doggy biscuits and no restrictions of where to sit with him. Beer and drinks were excellent and reasonable. We went for the 2 course Sunday lunch which again was excellent value for Money. Main meal was huge. Slices of your chosen meat with homemade proper Yorkshires and roast and boiled potatoes. Veggies are brought in a separate bowl. More than enough for all of us. The creamed leeks were particularly tasty. Meat tender and crackling with the pork brilliant. Nothing negative. Puddings were just as high quality. Cheese board was huge and a great selection and the other puddings clearly homemade. I really cant fault this place. If you have a dog and want to feel welcome ... go! If you want great food and beer.. go!

A group of 13 of us had pre-booked and pre-ordered food for our meal today. One lady was having a soup starter. The meal was booked for 1.00pm and her starter arrived at 1.30pm. Consequently the mains didn't start coming out until 1.45 to 2.00pm Two of us had ordered chargrilled chicken breast, one with salad and sweet potato fries, the other with sweet potato fries, peas and half a grilled tomato, a field mushroom and onion rings.. The chicken was so over-cooked it was like trying to eat sawdust so was barely touched. The waitress did offer us another meal but after having waited for so long we both declined and just continued to eat the vegetables/salad and fries. Another member of the party had ordered sea bass but that also was unsatisfactory, (not sure if it was the fish or accompaniments), but she did have a steak baguette to replace it. When we came to pay the bill we were deducted 25% for the two chargrilled chicken meals so were charged £10.46 for peas, fries, half a grilled tomato, a flat mushroom and two onion rings, and in the other lady's case, fries and some salad. Very unsatisfactory! The service was poor but there was only one lady serving the food and dealing with the bar and the place was quite busy as apart from our group fo 13 there was another table of five and a further three tables at least of people eating. Very disappointing and we shall be unlikely to return in the near future.

Avoid this pub if you're looking for a nice Sunday roast. The beef was chewy, the vegetables were mushy and watery, the potatoes were dry and the gravy was just brown flavourless water. Avoid!

Lots of starter choice. We were a party of three, only ordered one cod goujons very ordinary. Tartar sauce not good very vinegary.
We would all have liked roast beef, but it was only offered as very well done. So we ordered the pork. The fat was white , not roasted with a piece of deep fried crackling on top. The crackling had not been singhed so very hairy.
Vegetables very over cooked. We had to ask for apple sauce, we were given a small ramakin between us. Then a soup plate with leeks in about half a pint of double cream.
This meal was made by somebody who has no idea how to cook.
The desserts were very strange , what looked like tined rice pudding with two Crawford's shortbread biscuits.
We had the cheeseboard, this was the opposite to the rest of the meal. Massives of cheese, lovely assortment of biscuits and lovely chutney. Far too much to make a profit!
The front of house staff were excellent, the big problem is in the kitchen.
