“Charming cottage in beautiful surroundings”

We had a lovely stay. Cottage is cozy and comfortable and kitchen well equipped. Lots of things to do in the surrounding areas. Valley of Rheidol train ride highly recommended, also Hergest Croft gardens. The owner was extremely helpful with suggestions of things to do and responded very promptly to all questions. Good place to stay for a small family.

“Charming, comfortable cottage in ideal location”
Reviewed 27 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We had a lovely week in Kington, staying at Blodeuwedd Cottage. It's perfectly located for day trips near and far - we wanted to see both the Severn Bore and Powis Castle. There's lots to do and see closer to Kington too. In fact a week was not long enough.
The cottage itself has everything one could want, including a very well equipped kitchen, so we could enjoy the wonderful local produce. It's cosy, homely and full of character, and we enjoyed coming 'home' at the end of each day.
Highly recommend.

“Perfect cosy cottage in fantastic location”

We have a wonderful Easter break at Blodeuwedd cottage. Verena was really accommodating with our dates; she usually accepts guests from Saturday to Saturday, but she was happy to make an exception to make our Easter bank holiday really special. Her cottage is lovely and cosy, in a really quiet area with wonderful walks nearby. The two bedrooms were both a great size and the living area with the wood burning fire is a lovely place to relax after a long walk. We'd definitely recommend this place for two couples who love exploring the countryside.

“Character cottage withcharming decor”

A beautifully decorated cottage perfect for a small family or close friends. The cottage is nice and charming and retains the character of the period architecture. The kitchen has everything that you can ask for and Verena and Heather takes good care of any needs of the visitors. The step garden at the back of the cottage provides an ideal setting for enjoying the lovely views as well as offerring the much needed privacy.
The children enjoyed looking at the goats, ducks and sheep roaming around in the adjacent fields.
The living room is the piece de resistance of the cottage accentuating the theme of 'Blodeuwedd' - the owl, which flows throughout the property.
Verena has been very kind to fill me in with the details of activities for children in the vicinity (The Owl Centre). The children loved their day out at the Centre which has a petting zoo and houses 32 species of owls.
We were visiting over the weekend and did not take a car so the options were limited - but the property offers easy access to Offa's Dyke and various other walking trails along the England Wales border.
The city centre is around 0.5 miles from the cottage and has a wide range of shops including a Spar, Coop and Nisa - with almost all open till 11:00 in the evening on weekdays - which is a big plus speacially if you are arriving late. Bus services are available from Hereford but not very frequent and no services on Sundays - so it is advisable to book a taxi beforehand.
The cottage itself is very calm and quiet, surprisingly so, given its proximity to the main road. The stay was truly relaxing.

“Very cosy cottage in ideal location for a family holiday.”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 for a stay in October 2013

Blodeuwedd Cottage was the perfect holiday location for our little family.
The house itself is really cosy! With a romantic, rustic feel it is overflowing with charm and history. The owner (Verena) has made sure all your possible needs are catered for from ample supplies of wine glasses to walking maps and books, from kitchen equipment to games and activities for children. Be aware, the cottage is small (we have three daughters who shared a bedroom) but don't let that put you off - it's all part of the family experience!
The local area around the cottage is full of great places to visit. We found that our favourite experiences of the week were all within half an hour's drive. Highly recommended are the Elan Valley Dams, the 'Water Breaks Its Neck' Waterfall walk, the stroll over Hergest Ridge and the village of Pembridge.
All in all a superb holiday cottage in an excellent location.
