“Faultless! Really warm, welcoming and comfortable.”
Reviewed 19 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Just a quick two night stay for some good walks without children. A great bonus to be able to walk from the front door. Ate in both evenings and found the kitchen really well equipped with good quality items. Bliss to have a bath (as well as a shower) for a good soak. We settled in really quickly and were reluctant to head back to busy lives. Highly recommended.

“A lovley Autumn Break”
Reviewed 26 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Very relaxing. Very quiet area. Beautiful historic house - lots of beams and open fires.
Very close to all amenities (town centre shops etc) yet very quiet and peaceful.
Love the town which is very old fashioned and full of independent shops.
Lovely large first floor twin bedroom with fireplace and beams very old.

“Cosy, convenient & interesting”
Reviewed 9 November 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Great property that's been tastefully modernised. Well stocked spacious kitchen. Watch out for ye olde 17th C stairs - especially if you've been to "Ye Olde Tavern" down the road!

“Lovely stay once again”
Reviewed 9 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have stayed here twice before and it is as good as ever. It was lovely to visit Kington and the cottage in the summer. It really is a home from home. Highly recommended.

“Enchanting Cottage”
Reviewed 1 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The Medlar is a delightful and very cozy cottage in Kington, a small town on the English/Welsh border. The cottage is very well equipped with a wonderful, really well equipped kitchen with all conveniences and very comfortable sitting room with tv and free view as well as a selection of cds. The stairs are steep and may cause issues for very young or the elderly, and you do need to watch your head at times - but this is a cottage and expect the doorways to be low. The front bedroom is spacious and has twin beds as well as sitting area whislt the smaller double is very comfortable. A highlight is the very impressive bathroom with a huge bath to wallow in after a long day's walk.

Kington is a town that prides itself on appealing to walkers and, for a population of around 2500 has two butchers, bakers, green grocer serving delicious local produce, deli and a market each week. It also has a selection of lovely pubs and restaurants, the Oxford Arms being very welcoming with good food at a reasonable price, whilst the Swan is more upmarket, and the Stagg at Titley is meant to be very good, though we didn't try it. Good local beer is very enjoyable and cheap too - £2.80 a pint.

As avid walkers, we walked most days from the house as there are some excellent walks and the house has many sets of the guides to local walks to use, which was a really nice touch and most welcoming.

We can thoroughly recommend The Medlar. It is a really wonderful property located in a stunning area, just the place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beauty that is the Marchers. We hope to return soon.
