Was keen to see what the newly refurbished pub was like and it looks great inside. The welcome we had however was not very friendly and there seemed to be confusion over where free tables actually were.....we hadn't booked. We were directed into a lovely private area, sat down at our offered table and then almost immediately were asked to move into the main restaurant...all very weird and not a great start. It was very busy and almost full..Wednesday night. The waiter who served us was lovely and very attentive. We ordered a main course and it took forever to arrive. The restaurant was SO noisy. We both struggled to hold a conversation throughout the evening (no hearing problems!!) so much so we didn't stay for dessert or coffee. The food itself was lovely and well presented. All in all our evening was a bit disappointing. We wont be going back as it was impossible to talk freely due to the noise levels in the room...not sure how that can be improved though....a real shame.
