We stayed at the Little Orchard with our 3 &7 year old. It was a cosy little cottage and met all our needs. There was lots of technology, wii, dvd , sky, bose speakers to keep us entertained during the stay.
The location is easy access to Battle High Street , very close to Hastings beach ( we drove) and very close to Ashburnham where we attended a church conference.
It was packed with all essentials and extras . It has a very traditional cottage feel which made it a refreshing retreat and experience.
Keith/ Liz communicate very well , we mainly used used and text.
We would recommend it if you are looking for a quiet retreat and a village feel.
Small cottage full of low doors, beams and wonky floors as a cottage should be. It was about the right size for a couple and baby using the travel cot, it would've felt small for more adults I think. It was pretty clean certainly where it mattered, a little dusty in the tricky to reach corners you get with old beams etc. We like baths so weren't worried about only having a handheld shower. The kitchen is small but has what you need for a holiday home though no microwave -can't think where it'd fit. Internet, TV, hot water, heating etc all worked fine. A few little extras might be nice like spare towels, kitchen roll, box of tissues...
It's well situated for activities, you can easily walk into Battle high street which has the Abbey and battlefield and lots of little shops, Hastings is only a short drive as are a number of National Trust sites. It was easy to find without satnav and even in the dark though needed a torch to get down the steps to the front door.
A lovely little cottage with plenty on the plus side. Very comfortable lounge and bedroom and everything you could wish for in the kitchen. A cute patio for two and useful summer house if extra space needed (steps up). Central heating system very good and there is a woodburner which we didn't use but would make the lovely lounge even more cosy on winter nights. Busy road but little traffic noise, well insulated. On the downside, the loo and bathroom are off the kitchen (not ideal for getting up in the night!), and parking can be found on the street usually but may be 50 - 100 yards away but safe enough - don't park on the useful layby next to the cottage as its private. The leaves and garden need a trim and the sign Little Orchard now almost covered up by foliage. Overall though, a lovely retreat and very central for touring around. We may well make a return visit.

We had such a great time in Little Orchard and Battle! Breakfast in the morning sun, a hot soup on a colder day in the cosy cottage and nice evenings with DVDs. The communication with Keith was uncomplicated, whatever you need, you'll find it in the kitchen :-)
