“Perfect large rental property”
Reviewed 9 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

6 mums and tons of children enjoyed a wonderful week at Burchley house. Beautifully spacious with a large garden. Plenty of bathrooms and beds. Great location in Southwold.

“Marvelous House For Reunion”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

I stayed here with six school friends who I have known for over sixty years. The property was lovely, everything was perfect. Burchley House is the best rental property I have ever come across. All of my party congratulated me on finding it, I doubt it will ever be bettered for future reunions.

“Can't wait to go back”
Reviewed 25 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Stayed here recently with a mixed age group of family and we all loved it. The two living rooms are ideal when someone wanted some quiet time. The rooms were all perfect with lots of space in them. The kitchen had everything you needed, and welcome pack was a nice touch. The location was also perfect, we did not want to leave. Will hopefully be coming back soon.

“Good quality house in great location, but here are some points to note...”

This is clearly a good quality holiday house for all of the reasons set out in the other reviews on this site, which I would agree with. However, as good as it is, there are a few points to note, especially if like us you are travelling as a large family group.

The top floor of the property is advertised as a "family suite". What the detailed listing doesn't make clear is that the stairs up to this attic floor come straight up into the twin room, and there is no stair gate. Furthermore the only opening window in the room - other than the double doors onto the roof level balcony) is a sash window at just above floor level which opens out directly onto the garage roof (and it gets pretty hot in the attic, so if it's sunny, you'll need the ventilation...). So this is not a room you could leave small children in unsupervised, making it unsuitable as a "family room".

It is also a pity that both of the rooms in the "family suite" have huge glazed double doors covered only by the thinnest, cream curtains. As these both face east towards the morning sun, it means that both rooms get the full force of the sun at 4.30am in the summer making it difficult for adults to lie in, and pretty much impossible for toddlers. As others had suggested in the guestbook at the property, blackout blinds (or at least heavier curtains) really are required in these rooms.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great property for large groups, in an excellent location and I would recommend it, but families with small children should be aware of the drawbacks with this top floor!

“Luxurious, modern, well equipped house on edge of Southwold town”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This luxurious modern house offered every comfort beyond our expectation. Beds were comfy with en suites and the well equipped kitchen/diner catered for our large group. A large patio dining table and chairs housed us all to enjoy a BBQ. The lawn provided space for cricket and other ball games for the 7 grandchildren and adults. The house was a very short distance from the town and the Adnams shop was a stones throw away. The under floor heating made this extra special property very cosy. I highly recommend a stay in this delightful house and town.
