Hotel is good but infrastructure is the same old style with marginal improvement in design. Otherwise our stay was comfortable. Rooms are good and clean. Service was good too. Not for people who wants modern design hotels at budget price.

Room Tip: PLease do check it yourself personally.

I booked this hotel after a lot of research and having stayed here I found it was a right choice. There's not many star property in Shillong. There's one near Umiam Lake but that's far off from the main city and visiting the sight-seeing destinations can be a hassle if you are staying that far. Beside Pinewood there's one more star property but what set Pinewood aside from that is its colonial look which suits this Meghalayan city perfectly.

Location-wise as well its very perfectly located. Its by the ward's lake and very close to the police bazar area, which is the heart of the city. Its a pretty big property with various categories of cottage-typed rooms to choose from. I stayed in their room no.1 which is the presidential room category. The room was huge, had antique looking furniture with all modern amenities. The washroom was big enough. The room also had a fire-place but was non-functional. Most importantly they provide room-heaters which is a must in the Shillong winters.

The restaurant near the reception serves quality food. The buffet breakfast spread though is very basic and should have a little more variety/options. They have a nice bakery/café which serves lovely coffee and rich pastries for your evening leisure time. The bar is also pretty well-stocked. There's also a small souvenir shop inside the hotel in case you don't want to venture in the very crowded police bazar area.

The service is moderate. They can do with a little more urgency in the check-out process, specially they should keep the bills ready during check-out. The room-service though was prompt.

Overall a very satisfying experience!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the reception to minimize your walk to and fro!!!

We stayed in a cottage.it was spacious.but as I was traveling with two kids (more specifically one of them a baby)i found the room heating was not good.for me luckily I carried a room heater.the food is average and overpriced I feel.for summer the hotel may be good but think twice if u are traveling in winter specially with kids..

The Hotel is bset located next to Wald's lake and is a huge property but rooms are not upto the mark and it's not worth paying 9K. One can opt for other cheaper option. You can not get WiFi connectivity in your rooms.
