Indian travelers specifically because, typical Indian family might be holidaying to enjoy the place and the luxuries associated with the hotel. for God's sake do not expect any such thing from this place.

Someone had aptly written earlier, either you are going to love the place or hate the place. In short if someone asks, this is not a typical off the run mill hotel/restaurant/ resort in any tourist place. I think this place got prominent and popular with foreigners due to mention in lonely planet book. Please remember the ’Eco’ part of hotel name, whenever you feel something is not good here, something looks cheap, something is dirty you will be reminded of the ‘Éco’ part of it. First day I hated the place, second day I turned moderate. But third and fourth day I enjoyed and was in love with the location and beautiful sit out outside my room watching the sea.

All the workers and scuba diving crew were excellent and very good, expect the owner, whom I felt insensitive/short of arrogance.

The bad part of room: TRUTH and FACTS to be told

Room smells moist and humid. -Acceptable.
Bathroom has no ventilation so it is always moist. - Acceptable
Room inside is covered with sun-mica and some kind of wooden powder keeps falling inside room on the bed and floor. – Acceptable.
Dirty mosquito net. – Acceptable
The approach road is very bad and very slushy due to recent rains. – Acceptable

NOT ACCEPTABLE:
Due to ‘Éco’ part of it, you can see much fauna here. I had a bad experience of frog inside the commode. When my kid was attending nature call, it suddenly jumped & fell back and splashed water in commode. He was terrified and refused to use this toilet. Come on, I came to holiday not to conserve the eco-system, at least this thing should be avoided somehow. I didn’t come to holiday to solve the problem of how to get the bloody frog out of commode. Problem may look simple, imagine you sit on the loo and a frog beneath you and splashing! I agree to Éco part of hotel, but I didn’t expect this kind of eco. Frogs inside room/bathroom - tolerable, may be close to sea it’s their territory and we infringed, I can accept. Frog inside commode was too much to take. To add insult to injury, due to their zilch concern for customers – they cared a damn for my compliant twice. After two days, frog somehow jumped out of commode and later went out of toilet.

Location:
Location is good in front of the beach, your room is as close as few metres to the sea. During the low tide in the early morning to afternoon, sea retracts, it’s quite shallow, you can walk into the sea for 20-30 metres inside and it is only less than feet depth. During high tide, water is very close. There is a sit out in front of room, from where you can watch waves from 2-3 metres. It’s not a pure sandy beach, but you have places with complete sand to sit in sand and spend your time. But it is predominantly rocky and contains dead corals if I may call them. After 1 or 2 days, you start loving the place. I don’t have reference to compare with some other hotel in Havelock, as I never visited or saw any other location.

You are not in a luxury villa/hotel where there are ample numbers of amenities in hotel. This is just a shack kind of thing. To be bit harsh, there is no such thing called customer service here, its zilch/zero. You may be expecting such things due to price you are paying here, as in mainland for such a price you would be getting a room in 4/5 star hotel with full facilities. There is no on call room service for that matter you cannot call as there is no intercom.

Food is made to order. Not had food from this place. Complimentary buffet breakfast provided was OK. You find surprisingly many foreigners having food in house here.

Room Tip: Opt for beachfront

Excellent resort in Havelock island having it's own private beach. We stayed for 3 nights and booked triplex villa. They also have their own scuba diving activities which is a must do in Havelock. All the villas are made of bamboos and wood logs. No bricks and cement used. Each villas are beach facing and very spacious. The triplex villa where we stayed had 2 bedrooms ( ground and first floor) and 2 sea facing balconies ( first and second floors). A/c villas are also available. Staying amidst nature and right next to the beach was an amazing experience. Scuba diving instructors were excellent and we had a great scuba experience. Just ensure that you choose the dive during high tide and after 10 am slots. The resort is peaceful, calm and serene. Overall a great experience.

Absolutely LOVE the place!! Staff was very warm and received everyone well. The fact that it is on the beach side got my attention. The scuba trainers are very well experienced and make you very comfortable with the whole experience. The view is spectacular.
The rooms stole my heart. They were absolutely brilliant. Value for money is great :)
A great experience overall :)

Well, expectations were high after reading the reviews and also seeing the property in their website and actual experience did match to our expectations. Stayed here for 3 nights with family with kids and friends. Our entire stay here was peaceful and beautiful. Resort is very close to the Jetty point (Govindnagar), in fact we can see the movement of ships near the jetty from the resort. And also the cruises going to Neil Island passes right in front of the resort.

We had to go through lot of uncertainties about our visit to Havelock due to Cyclone Vardah. Initially Makruzz on 9th Dec 2016 was cancelled due to bad weather. Though we were not sure about when we can reach Havelock, we wanted to keep options open as we were looking forward to stay at this place. Luckily in the last moment the ferry services were started on the afternoon of 9th Dec 2016 and we were the first batch tourists to reach Havelock post Cyclone Vardah trouble.

When we reached the resort it was not in an ideal condition for check in as it was hit hard by the cyclonic activity for 3-4 days, but we were prepared for it. But, rest of our stay was trouble less as the weather improved drastically and we could really enjoy our stay and the scuba dive at the resort.

All the huts are beautifully designed. We booked a triplex hut and a duplex hut. The proximity of the huts to the beach makes it an amazing place. The kids had a lovely time as they were going through a really different staying experience. Beach too is close and accessible any time of the day. The sit outs close to the beach too adds value to this place.

This place is not a insects free space, but while living in the huts its part of the package. Some may not like it but we had no complaints about it.

The in-house restaurant is decent. The Hosts are simple and nice people. Had a good bit of interaction with them.

Definitely recommended place

It's location is perfect. Just get out of your room and you have a small private beach after 10 steps. The whole area is nicely maintained. All the rooms are made of natural material which is a rare thing these days. The staff is really good. There is no telephone in the room, so for everything you need you have to walk up to the reception. We had 2 rooms booked (1 was AC and other was the triplex villa). The sad part was that there was just a small CFL bulb in both the places which gave a feeling of staying at a cheap place. Also for the complimentary breakfast, there is not a whole list of options to choose from. The menu is really limited and if you order 2 omelets, then only one is free and you have to pay for the 2nd one (something that is hard to digest for a traveler like me). Most of the points that i have given is for the location & built of the property and behavior of the staff.
