“Enjoyable Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 September 2012

Really can't complain about this hotel or the staff. We had a King Room with Jacuzzi on the 12th floor, great view, hardwood floors, fridge in room with a little bar area with sink. Breakfast was okay - maybe a 6 out of 10 considering they had differant types of yogurts and milk - white and chocolate, boiled eggs, cereals, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes and bananas - (too much time on my hands haha) Within walking distance to the Brown's stadium, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Progressive field, casino, restaurants bars.

I would definately recommend this hotel to a friend or family member

Room Tip: Found that the 12th floor had a good view (Room 1205)

We stayed 2 weekend nights and would recommend this hotel for convenience to the Browns Stadium - easily within walking distance. The entire hotel staff was great, very pleasant, helpful and friendly. We asked to change rooms upon arrival because of the "view" which was the backs of other buildings and the fire escape, we were given another room facing the street which was definitely better! Loved the hardwood floors, room was huge, check-in was easy because we arrived before the crowds. Parking is around the corner and a flat $14 if staying at HIE. I think the hotel has a lot of character and not your cookie-cutter hotel, it is a former bank building with high ceilings and lots of unique decor. One negative, the pillows need updated. I would definitely stay here again if ever in the Cleveland area.

Great hotel, in a great location! 4th Street is a block away and is full of great restaurants, and cool pubs. Also walking distance to Browns Stadium. Hotel was nice, and neat. Perfect for a night in town, or for sporting events.

We recently spent 2 nights and were so happy with our choice! We asked for a top floor room, and were not given one upon check in. When we asked, we were immediately changed to the top floor, without attitude. Front desk staff was excellent every time we had a question or issue. Great, HUGE room with beautiful hardwood floors and fun view of the basketball arena and baseball stadium. Wonderful location for our needs....visiting Lola - Michael Symon's place - and getting to know the city. Only complaints are the pillows, which seem old and lumpy..need replacing.... and the 1 chair and ottoman in the room could have easily been 2, which would have made a wonderful seating area. Will definitely stay here upon returning to Cleveland!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for a Friday and Saturday night in September. The location was the highlight of the hotel. Parking was a little confusing as the garage is around the corner so you definitely want to park in the temporary spaces in front to unload. Then you pay $14 for 24 hours to park in the garage. Make sure you read all the signs -- you have to take your ticket with you for the desk to stamp it and then they charge it to your room. All the signs near the machines in the garage lead you to believe it would be less expensive to pay the regular rate but they consider one day to be 12 hours. Then when you go to leave you put the ticket in the machine and it knows you already paid.
The hotel itself is a former bank building. Our two queen bed suite was on the tenth no-smoking floor. The floors are all hardwood and tile; the ceilings are high and everything is very clean and open. Refrig, microwave, cabinets and sink in the little kitchette are a nice amenity as well as the HIE breakfast buffet -- eggs, sausage or bacon, bisquits, gravy, cinnamon rolls. The pancake maker was broken but plenty to choose from -- breads, muffins, fruit, cereal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Very nice area...I would say about 20 or so tables with a lot of space -- not cramped at all -- and very clean and efficient. The only thing that was kind of irritating was that our AC must have had common vents with smoking rooms as all I could smell was smoke every time the air came on the first night. The second night wasn't as bad. Also the bathroom -- although very clean, brand new fixtures, tile, etc -- didn't have a fan.
Again, the location was prime. Baseball stadium and basketball arena like 3 blocks away. R&R hall of fame and football stadium about a 10 - 15 minute walk -- maybe a little over a half mile. However, the walk was pleasant and in very nice areas. Also casino is like 6 blocks away and we figured out the last morning you can walk through the casino to get to the nice little Tower Mall.
Overall I would stay here again albeit it seems a little pricey.
