It’s Open!
So great to be able to dine at The Barker once again. We reserved a table and on arrival, we were shown to it and given instructions on how to go about ordering our meals.
The Barker now has a 2 course menu available and this was the option my wife and I chose.
My wife ordered pumpkin entree to be followed by the roast pork. I had potato & leak soup, followed by 200gm home made beef burger..
The food was excellent and totally worth the price. The staff were as friendly and courteous as ever...
Welcome back to The Barker Hotel 👍

Nice venue, average food. The venue itself is quite nice, nice atmosphere. However after several attempts at this restaurant, the food continues to disappoint. Several of us had bruschetta to start. Burnt sourdough bread, some sliced tomatoes and less than 5 basil leaves. No balsamic, no feta, no onion. Lacking any real flavour. Mains, we had the pork roast special. The menu said it came with Swede and turnip. It didn’t, it came with cauliflower. Not a big issue, but the nail in the coffin...pork roast with no crackling. Should be a sin. We won’t be trying here again anytime soon, especially at the prices they charge, I expect better food.

Valentines Day was celebrated with 28 of our friends from our Walking Group. We caught the train from Noarlunga Centre to Goodwood station then transferred to Mount Barker station for Glenalta where the train stopped directly at the back of the hotel. How convenient for the elderly. It was the first time for many of us to be at the hotel so we were rather impressed by the entrance to the Bistro and all other areas of the building. The view of the hillside from the Bistro room was peaceful too.
We all had the Seniors meal package at the price of $22:00 to which we received a Main, a dessert and a coffee. The meal portions were very generous and if you had to catch the train again before 3:00pm (pensioners only), then your coffee was made to go. Out of the 30 people in our group, only 2 did not enjoy their meal so much but did enjoy the day out. The majority of our group have expressed the interest to go back again and I agree with them. It was good value for money, the food was very nice, the portions were generous and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The dining area is so very pleasant to be in now since the renovations and the menu is very good too. Sitting in a booth gave us some more privacy and was very much appreciated as the seating was so comfortable.

Met up with a few friends from work for dinner as there is always a good range of choices to eat from here
We were all a little shocked being told there would be a 15% surcharge added to our bill due to it being a Public Holiday
