The unassuming frontage opens out to provide a fascinating look at times gone by. It includes a look at aboriginal history as well as early settlers and the policing of the North.

I have seen a lot of small local museums over the years and the Melrose Museum must be the best. It has been sell set up and we came away feeling that we had learnt a lot. Particularly liked the Federation Building displays. Full marks to the enthusiastic local people who have set it up and who look after it.

We visited this little museum twice, during our 2 day stay in Melrose, it was so good. There was so much to see and all the exhibits were of a top standard for a country museum, one of the best I have come across. I particularly enjoyed the area dedicated to the local aboriginal people it was very informative. If you visit Melrose, and you should it is a lovely area, make sure you have a few hours to spend at the museum the history is fabulous

There is so much to see that you need to pace yourself for this one. I'm on my way to see part 2 today.
