I've been here a couple of times while driving through and love it. Could seriously settle in there for the day! I didn't eat this time, just had a couple of glasses of lovely red wine. However, I've eaten there before and the food is lovely. Real comfort food on a cold day. Not sure how it would be in the middle of summer but for a chilly, wintery day you can't beat this place!

Terrific staff, especially the girl behind the bar, Dee i think her name was , very friendly. This place is busy for a reason, very generous sizes and great flavour in the food.
Loved the beer from Germany.

Have been here twice ... Once in 2010 and again in 2016 and have loved the food on both visits. The fire, the food , the cosy atmosphere and wonderful staff, the food .... Just fantastic.

We visited Hahndorf on our recent trip to Adelaide. The food at Hahndorf Inn was ok not great. We came to Hahndorf to experience the German Cuisine but settled for the good old Aussie meat and veg although my meal was just meat hardly any veggies at all - my grandmother wasn't impressed with her pasta dish & the burger was ok - overall it was very disappointing - the German meal sizes were way too big for us to justify ordering to just waste it - I think they need to have a smaller tasting plate perhaps with half the amount they serve.

Some of the meal & drink prices were way over the top. It was extremely busy the waiters were run off their feet.

Will try somewhere else next time

We went for lunch. It was crazy busy and we waited for a table. This should have warned us. The place was full of tourists but we didn't see a bus outside. When seated we had time to watch the service. The food serves of sausage and potato and lamb shanks are huge. The tourists wrestled their way through a pig each on a mountain of mash. The serves are so over board it's almost funny. But not a green vegetable in sight.

We ordered from the menu something easy but not gargantuan. It was disgusting. The salad on the plate was not dressed and was old. The green sauce supplied i think was supposed to be an aoili. Awful .And the mushroom sauce was so dubious i tasted and left it. It was more runny nose than a gravy.

So for the tourist it may be ok if you're from Japan but locals stay away. It is not worth the effort. The staff were friendly but so overworked and hurried there was no time to establish a rapport. It was more cafeteria style than a lovely hotel.

The wine was the most expensive we have paid for locally and our standard pub food of schnitzels was very overpriced. Not a cheap eat.

We hurried out as quickly as possible because that is what the hotel wanted. As soon as you have finished your meal they push to get you out the door so they can get the next one in.

We will not be back.
