Everything in the beautiful room was a Time Capsule. We visited for Lunch. Our meals were excellent but we couldn’t stop looking at our surroundings. All the extensive, diverse Artwork by Daphne Mayo is wonderful. A rare privilege to see so much work by this very talented Qld Artist. The Banjo Patterson/Matilda themed etched glass doors are very beautiful. The furniture and fittings were of the era and lovely too. We sat at the Banjo Piano, read all the framed stories and ephemera. What an opportunity. The Architecture of this huge old hotel, the North Gregory Hotel, is stunning. The Staff were excellent, especially the young woman who served us. She was a font of knowledge and enthusiastically shared it and patiently answered our never ending questions.

Accommodation was fully booked so we cannot comment on that however we visited twice & really enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the restaurant - stunning artwork everywhere. We would also like to thank the owners for having a show every afternoon from 4.30pm it was wonderful. It’s a shame some visitors appear to not spend any money yet enjoy such a generous atmosphere & hospitality - very interesting bio about Banjo as well. Thank you 🙏

We were camped at the back of the hotel and thought we would support the locals by having dinner and we weren’t disappointed. The entertainment started at 4.30 and finished about 7.30. Great poet and singer. We ordered 4 entrees between the two of us and they were all delicious. Well done North Gregory a thank you

We looked forward to a meal here, given the attractive menu options, however the dining room did not live up to expectations. My husband is a fan of sausages, but these were not available on the night we were there, nor were there any of the blackboard specials for dessert.
We had a long wait for our meals and it was only when the person who took our booking asked how things were, that our meals belatedly appeared. When my husband mentioned this, the management claimed they had a function on that night. This was the night preceding the opening of the 'Vision Splendid' film festival, thus management should have anticipated this eventuality.
The North Gregory Hotel and the Daphne Mayo Dining Room are iconic in Winton and are potentially a tourist drawcard. We were distressed to note that every time one of our fellow diners stood up, he knocked his chair over putting the exquisite Daphne Mayo glass doors in peril.
