Our hearts sank when we drove in to the Reception driveway. We were confronted with what looked like single rooms with steps outside each and aimed fairly and squarely at the FIFOs working the nearby mines. But to our surprise, and relief, our room was at the rear part of the Motel, away from these, and were by far the newer and more spacious, with a wide verandah looking out over the gravel car park and an overgrown neighboring backyard on one side and the town's sparkling swimming pool on the other. The room was adequate, but only just, and space was really at a premium. We had a double and a single bed and negotiating around them was tricky. However, we did it, and enjoyed good sleep for each night we were there. The spare blankets certainly came in handy those nights! The motel is on the Barcaldine side of town, but a block away from the three very lively hotels in Winton. Other, newer, motels are on the Cloncurry side.

Room tip: Go for the rear rooms overlooking the town's pool!

This place is very old and needs a lot of renovation. There is a warning that the hot water can take a while but it felt like 10 minutes before it started to get hot. The Wi Fi dropped out a lot. I would not suggest staying here.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay, we have a new WiFi system now that is a lot more reliable and hot water takes about two minutes to come through now.

We found this motel to be a big older than I expected. The rooms that I could see were maybe two or three steps off the ground. I noticed that this seemed to apply to most of the motels in Winton. The room was very clean and inviting. The beds were comfortable and the shower very hot. It had two street entrances which is good for people towing a van etc. We could easily walk from there to the main street.

I can't really recommend this place which is a real pity as the owners/managers are very nice people.
When we first drove past I thought it can't be that place, but it was. It looks and is a quite old place. I'm sure the owners know what they have and maybe that's why they don't have many photos of the place. I would have passed it by if I'd seen a photo of the building. Its an oldish fibro type building. This results in adequate room size but not so good with sound insulation. Which isn't a problem unless you've got kids on one side and a guy who snores really badly most of the night on the other side.
It's adequately clean unless you are concerned about the mould on the bathroom ceiling and cobwebs in the corners not to mention the lack of cleaning crevasses in the windows and the need for a good paint.
The wifi is adequate provided you're the only people connecting. The router is inadequate to cope with more than a few guests connecting concurrently and so you end up with inadequate, dodgy, intermittent connection that isn't all that fast when you can connect.
The bed is adequate unless you need something with support that won't leave you waking up with a sore side.
At $125 a night it's way overpriced, ok comparitive value for the town but poor compared to the Longreach accommodation we'd just come from.
It is VERY handy to the main street. We walked to dinner each night.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend it and if in Winton again I'd try somewhere else.

It is a much older motel but the position so close to town was worth it for us. A short walk to the CBD and attractions. The room was a good size and very clean and tidy. Checking in was easy and staff friendly.
