Great organisation from start to finish - pick up and drop off by coach, great commentary during the cruise and dinner under the stars on the river side, with music entertainment. Very impressed with the quality of the food - slow cooked lamb in red wine casserole and grilled barramundi ( alternate drop). Very worthwhile!

It was a perfect evening for a cruise, the river was almost glasslike. Unfortunately there were many many flies until the sun went down but it IS the outback! Following the cruise was dinner and entertainment at Smithy’s which were both great! I’d recommend this to anyone as a pleasant way to spend an evening. It was the highlight of my visit to Longreach.

Did this cruise with commentary and dinner last Friday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The organisation was seamless. The commentary on the river cruise was very informative. Nibbles were served and as the sun set on the river we all set about snapping away to capture the incredible beauty of the environment. The riverside dining out experience was excellent. Food was great and the whole experience was enhanced by the live entertainer who gave us a great selection of well known country tunes. She had the voice of an angel and related beautifully and genuinely with her audience. Highly recommend this cruise. Just a great night.

Great experience on the train although a little cramped when the bed was down! Walking up and down the carriages was a real zig-zag trip! The meals were excellent on the train. We stopped in the Longreach Motel and it was very good. We visited Cambden Park station and also the Longreach Agriculture College property. The visit to the School of the Air was most interesting as was the visit to the QANTAS Museum with the Boeing 747, the 707 and the Catalina flying boat. The museum is very well set out and most informative..you can easily put in a whole day here! We had a delayed boat trip on the Thompson River at sunset and then Smithy's for dinner and a show... due to flooding after their 100+mm of rain...first in 5 years!
The visit to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs was very well organised and the the display excellent with great guides.
A brilliant trip and well worth doing!
Our trip was arranged by RACQ and well done.

Only down side was the bad behaviour of a group of Over/50 on the train back..they 'hogged' the dining car delaying the second sitting, not once but twice. Thie tour guide was 'very non-existent' until we got off!

I highly recommend this trip from start to finish. So many highlights to see, and experience in the outback. The train from Brisbane was a beautiful way to get to know people on your tour. Stopping at interesting towns along the way and seeing the Queensland countryside. Arriving in Longreach, the very informative commentaries everywhere we went. A very relaxing trip as nothing was to much trouble. Being dropped in town to explore and then picking us up after. Loved the sunset cruise and the sunset dinner at the homestead, and being able to see all the stars in the night sky. Magic! Seeing the schools of the air in action and being able to talk to their teachers, was inspiring. The trip out to Winton and the Dinosaur diggings. Getting a glimpse and better understanding of this beautiful country and its pioneers, and what they experienced despite the drought and heat.. There is something for everyone. I will be returning.
