This Motel is overlooking the mouth of the Endeavour River and sea and the view across the lawn is great, however, that cannot be said for the male on the front desk. There is a sign outside stating 'Inspection invited' yet when we asked to look over a 'budget' room the male on Reception was taken aback. After we had seen the room and accepted it at $120 per night, he stated, 'If you don't take this room there are a lot of people in town and all I have left is an 'executive' room at $175 per night and I'm sure you don't want that'. This comment was totally unnecessary and rather offensive.
The room was very clean, however, for a Motel the only amenities it contained was a rather small benchtop with a Microwave, a Jug, a Toaster, 2 small plates, 2 cups, 2 knives, 2 wine glasses, a dish cloth and a tea towel. Below the benchtop was a small Fridge and a rubbish bin. We noticed that there were no cereal bowls and when my husband went and asked for 2, the lady went and got 2 from a locked cupboard and the male commented that they were not normally supplied in Motels. This is the first Motel in the world that I have stayed in that has not supplied cereal bowls or spoons (the latter we had to buy) rather than go back and ask for some. There was no sink or tap and we had to tilt the Jug on it's side and fill it from the Vanity basin and could barely get a third of a jug of water, we also washed the used dishes in the Vanity sink. In my opinion it is the fact that there is so little accommodation in Cooktown that this Motel gets patronage and after the 'Welcoming' we got, I was on the verge of declining to stay there and try elsewhere. So, beware of non-user friendly management.

Had two days/nights at Cooktown. The Seaview motel has amazing views. We stayed in the budget rooms up the back and I reckon we had the best of the views. Room was basic, but clean and comfortable. My only complaint is having to put up with smokers sitting outside their rooms next to ours and having the smell of the cigarettes wafting in to our room, even with the louvres closed and the air conditioning on. We couldn't sit outside and enjoy the view when the smokers were outside. It would be better if they shut themselves in their rooms and puffed away to their hearts' content. Room had microwave, toaster, jug and some crockery and cutlery.

This motel has the best views from every room. We had a budget room, which had a comfortable double bed, private facilities, self contained, a/c, kitchenette with microwave. Everything you need. Walking distance to everything. Clean, serviced daily.
Friendly, helpful housekeeping staff, but front office staff were not friendly or helpful at all. Except for that, the best value in Cooktown

Room tip: If on a budget, budget rooms are fine. If you want up market, they have it still for reasonable rates

We stayed 2 nights in an "executive " room which was very spacious and very clean. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the Endeavour River.
The motel is very central to everything in Cooktown.
Excellent staff and very comfy but the exhaust fan in bathroom was not operating.
Would recommend this motel.

What a hidden gem this motel is. We had a choice of rooms and opted for a standard room as they offered spectacular views across the river.
Rooms are a bit "tired" but were clean, comfortable and well equiped.
Do yourself a favour and walk across the road to Captains Landing for breakfast.
