“Not for the Faint Hearted”
Reviewed 23 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

The treehouse is amazing to look at and perfect for people who love the outdoors. However, as described on the website it is totally exposed, allowing cockroaches, spiders, ants and moths; common visitors.
The jungle house is a 5 minute walk through the rainforest to the main reception meaning it feels very isolated and there is no phone reception.
We found the staff quite distant. They never told us any information about what to expect in the line of insects, animals etc or general info about the forest. We travelled with 2 large suitcases, which we had to drag through the jungle and up stairs; none of the staff offered to help, although seeing we were having great difficulty.
Overall, it's a unique experience that's not for the faint hearted.

Management Response
27 Jul 2017
I would have responded earlier to this list of complaints that includes no mobile phone signal, but I was unable to log in to Tripadvisor until I got a security code sent to my mobile phone, and I had to drive 65 km. to the nearest town to get mobile signal.
We always value feedback on Tripadvisor but this list of complaints are just about all things that (as the reviewer says) are described on the website.
Lack of mobile signal is clearly listed on the website for the Jungle Treehouse so I don’t know why people need to complain about this.
Same as saying the house feels very isolated when the website clearly states that it is deep inside the rain forest and a 150 metre walk from the car park, that is the attraction and the reason people book this, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world and retreat in to a peaceful rain forest.
We normally go out of our way to make our guests feel comfortable but if people bring suitcases as big as our fridge then we do not feel obliged to risk a back injury to carry them 150 metres in to the jungle and back, especially if people arrive in the dark six hours after their announced arrival time. Most people that have large bags tend to take out what they need for their short stay and leave the rest in the car.
The reviewer is correct that this is not for the faint hearted, on the website we say not for the city slickers, it is a jungle house, and an appreciation for the outdoors is helpful to enjoy this place, and if the sight of harmless wildlife alarms you then perhaps it is better to stay in the Cairns cafes and not cross the Daintree river.

“Perfect experience!!”
Reviewed 31 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

What a delight! But not for those easily scared by spiders and bugs. We loved our stay in the treehouse and can't imagine staying anywhere else in the Daintree. The treehouse has everything you might need with the added bonus of being surrounded by the jungle. We even had cassowaries come say hello while we were showering. What a treat! And not an experience you can get elsewhere. Rob and Aruni are wonderful hosts and will help you with anything you need. Be sure to play the 9 hole mini golf course in the jungle. Rob built the course and did all of the amazing cement work.
One piece of advice: stop at the Wooly's in Mossman for your groceries. The two stores in Cape Tribulation don't offer much and we wish we'd known.
