This is a magnificent old building was housng the Gold Commisioner and erected in the 1860's.It was then known as Blarney Castle. The Catholic Church took it over in the 1880's but over and it was home for the local priest for ten years and later fro nuns . It was passed to the local community in 1975, and the last nun removed to more suitable accomodation. It has a very pretty garden and well worth a look even if not for the art.

Our historic building built in the 1860s lives on. So glad that visitors appreciate the history that we have tried to preserve, as much as the art & surrounds. See you again.

An impromptu decision to have breakfast at the Convent Gallery this morning was a great idea. We did not have a prior reservation but the staff happily accommodated us in the balcony area. One of the waiters recommended that I should try the mushroom croquette with gruyere cheese. It was absolutely divine. The service was prompt and friendly. A great way to end our weekend break in Daylesford.

Lovely place and friendly staff :) Haven’t been to church since the start of lockdown/restrictions so it was nice to visit the chapel there.
