Fantastic view described by author James Herriot as the finest view in England and how right he was. You can see for miles on a clear day. I had some binoculars with me and this added to the excitement. Walkways are well maintained, toilets are clean and the gift shop is well stocked.
We had lunch in the cafe, sandwiches, cake and a cracking pot of Yorkshire tea and I would rate this lunch as superb. Dog walkers were able to sit outside the cafe to eat where water bowls were provided for the dogs. Car parking is £2.50 an hour and seems very secure. Overall fantastic visitor attraction.

I've stopped here today for a quick coffee en route to Whitby. It's very well appointed - the information centre has everything you could need for exploring this part of the North Yorkshire Moors. Today there is a visiting Morris dancing team performing - an added bonus! The photo is of the Morris dancers' dog also dressed in Morris gear.

Handy break location after 25% hill drive up Sutton Bank.

Useful: 10 minute free parking; toilets; Royal Mail post box; can buy parking ticket in visitor centre if you don't have correct change.

Centre: courteous, helpful staff; well-stocked gift shop. Café. Bike hire adjacent.

Walk to the view is signposted. It is a good leg stretch after driving but only 550 metres and a shorter on the way back.

View: breathtaking. 'The finest view in England'? Quite possibly.

We visited it in two days. The first day we hired some bikes and went cycling for 3 hours. You can plan your routes according to your ability. The guy at the cycle shop was very helpful. The second day we walked to see the While Horse. Although view of the Horse was not so exciting, the walk itself was very pleasant.
