“Gorgeous cottage, stunning location!”
Reviewed 16 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Just returned from a three day catch-up break with my best friend. This is a beautifully appointed cottage with fantastic views down to the river. Really comfy beds, huge bath & cosy living room with wood burner. The garden is a delight, with a choice of three levels to sit & enjoy the view & the abundant wildlife. The owner was absolutely lovely- and patient too when my friend accidentally locked us out on our first night!
The path down to the cottage is steep but there are handrails & it is definitely worth it!
We fell in love with the cottage & meeting the lovely neighbour (& her ultra cute new puppy!) was an unexpected bonus!
All in all, it was the most relaxing, enjoyable weekend away I've had in ages & I highly recommend it.

Liked best: the bath (I only have a shower room at home!)
Liked least: The master bedroom needs blackout curtains.

“The most relaxing break”
Reviewed 9 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Booking this cottage went without a hitch. Booking through trip advisor was easy and communication from the owner was excellent. The arrival information we received meant that we found the cottage very easily after a long drive - a really great start.

Having read the reviews, and taking note of the owners advice, we packed accordingly for the walk down the hill. The access to the cottage is slightly awkward, the hill is steep, but it is worth the effort for the fabulous location.

The cottage itself was everything we could have hoped for, and more. Warm and cosy and very well equipped. I don't think there was anything that we needed that wasn't there.

We chose the cottage as we particularly wanted to visit Lathkill Dale, and that was a lovely day out directly from the front door. But there is so much more to do without having to travel far. We hired bikes and cycled the Monsal trail - a really fun day out. And Chatsworth was fantastic, and virtually deserted the day after the Bank holiday.

We had the most relaxing break. We drank our morning cuppa sat on the bench overlooking the river, and at the end of a day out in the fresh air it was lovely to curl up infront of the log burner with a glass of wine after a soak in the luxurious bath tub. All before falling asleep in the most comfortable beds with no noise or light pollution.

Obviously we hope to be back, soon.

What a lovely review, thank you. seems you really embraced the local countryside and local amenities! Lathkill Dale is beautiful as is walking straight from the front door as you say. Also it's very convenient to hire the bikes on the Monsal trail (rather than bring your own), again for stunning scenery. Yes, i do mention the steep path down, (to wear appropriate footwear for the cobbled path, and don't overload yourselves with baggage all at once!) but as you say it's worth it once you're snuggled up there with the sound of the river and the birds. My city friends are almost spooked due to the silence and the pitch dark at night (except for stars) but have a knock-out sleep and a much needed cosy lie-in! Thank you. Welcome back soon!
