“Lovely Cottage”
Reviewed 16 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed at Rokeby Cottage in July for a weekend. We had a lovely time there. The cottage was very sweet, clean tidy and comfortable with everything we needed. The location is great, very close to the centre of Hathersage but relatively quiet with some lovely walks nearby and good views.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious but there are some low ceilings which may affect people over 6 feet tall (didn't bother me)! The main bedroom is quite large with a really comfy bed. The shower is fantastic with instant hot water.

We had no problems checking in/out and the owner was very helpful in organising our stay. We were allowed to take our dog which was great (no carpets downstairs)! :)

Thanks for the great review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you can return soon. Britain is pretty special in the Summer, and the Peak District is one of it's most beautiful regions.
Although completely renovated and modernised, the building is a traditional farm workers cottage, so the ceilings are low, and the stairs are steep and narrow. It isn't ideal for everyone, but I am pleased it worked for you.

“First Stay in the Peak District”
Reviewed 13 July 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Myself and my partner stayed in the Rokeby Cottage with our dog. The Cottage was excellent and in an excellent location for us to appreciate the Peak District for the first time.
Would recommend this cottage to anybody especially if you are into walking and have pets.

Thank you for your kind words. The cottage is in a good location, not quite in the centre of Hathersage, but a short and pleasant walk. Hathersage itself is an ideal base for your first explorations of what the Peak District has to offer.
I hope you can return soon.

Reviewed 28 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Cottage is well equipped with very good facilities, which are very neat and tidy. The heating was welcome on occasions even though it was June. The location is A1 for proximity to other sites as many are easily reached either by car or public transport.Hathersage is well served with good shops easily reached from cottage.

Thanks for the great review. Hathersage has most things you will want during your stay. The shop attached to Barons the petrol station in Hathersage has most basics, but there is a great traditional butcher about 400m away and Coleman's Deli in 'The Square' in Hathersage, as well as serving great coffee, has some more exotic items.

I hope you can return again soon.

“Cosy base for Peak District”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Lovely, well maintained cottage and perfect base for enjoying the Peak District. It provides all essential facilities/amenities, with bonus comfort and beautiful view.

Sensitive smoke alarm - keep the patio door open and switch on the exhaust fan ;)

Thanks for your review, and the tip about the smoke alarm. I think I have fallen foul of that myself!

I hope you can come back again soon.

“Wonderful cosy cottage”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Rokeby cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break. The cottage is fully equipped to a very high standard, including its own mini library! Stunning views and a peaceful location, we both returned home feeling refreshed.

Hathersage village is delightful. We tried the local deli and one of the three pubs, great food and beers brewed locally.
We didn't have time for a swim in the outdoor pool so we will have to visit again.

A perfect location for walkers, cyclists and anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

Thank you for telling everyone about wonderful Hathersage. It really is a jewel of the Peak District National Park. I know you only live in Sheffield, but to paraphrase a famous saying in Australia, Rokeby Cottage may be only 10 miles from Sheffield, but it is 1000 miles from care! We hope you come back and stay again soon.
