“Cottage situated in perfect location and very quaint”
Reviewed 22 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Stayed for 4 days mid August and were met in the Leisure Centre car park, for which we had asked Maria in advance to arrange the car parking permit. Less than 5 mins walk to the cottage and provided with milk, chocs, wine and luscious ginger biscuits. We were there for cycling and perfectly located to go straight onto the Tissington Trail (starts from end of Leisure Centre car park). Tissington Trail meets up along the way to High Peak trail and can also go off around Carsington water (which we did all 3 in one day). We had such a relaxing break on our own and would highly recommend this cottage and location. I'm sure we'll be back with our bikes in the future :-)

“Lovely and cozy”
Reviewed 5 July 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Booked this place for my husbands birthday. We had such a nice time here such a cozy and warm place. Holds so much character and history in the place and the surrounding area. Such a simply decorated clean place, had everything we needed. Fitted with modern kitchen and bathroom but offset with the quirky building. Everything is local and if your an antique lover like we are you will love it here. Owners were amazing, met us soon as we got there very helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the place and the weird layout of the bedroom was very interesting and fun! Would definitely recommend and stay here again! Felt like going from home to home! Thanks so much.

“Great cottage...great location... great break.”
Reviewed 6 March 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We were greeted by Maria and chilled wine, chocolates, biscuits and milk. Parking is in an adjoining leisure centre car park, for which you require a permit that had been purchased for us by the owners by prior arrangement. The cottage is lovely and cosy with a well equipped kitchen, (Inc...tea, coffee, sugar etc..) spacious and immaculately clean shower room and the kingsize bed is really comfortable. One word of warning.......access within the bedroom loft area is a little restrictive due to timber beams, but this did not cause us any concern. The property is situated near the centre of the very well appointed and historic town......so perfect for the procurement of provisions. There's a good selection of restaurants, tea rooms, general shops and boutiques, plus some interesting antique emporiums. If walking is your bag, we found the location absolutely ideal, with several very good walks accessible from pretty much the properties doorstep, and many more within a 10 mile radius. Tap into the owners local knowledge, as their advice on 'all' aspects was invaluable. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a well appointed, clean and perfectly located base to access The Peak District, Derby and Staffordshire.

“Lovely cottage, great location”

We spent a week in the Pegges Almshouse, the whole experience was excellent. First impressions set the tone for the week, the key collection was seamless and the unexpected welcome pack started the holiday very well. The owner was knowledgable about the area and made a couple of suggestions of places to visit. The cottage was spotless with all the amenities you will ever need and good quality fixtures and fittings.

The cottage is a 5 minute walk to the centre were there are a number of pubs and restaurants. Would recommend The Smiths Tavern, traditional pub with a good selection of real ale & whisky, The Bowling Green, good pub food and the Lamplight, good restaurant / set menu.

One of Maria's recommendation was to walk along the Tissington trail to Thorpe, once there a visit to the Old Dog is recommended, real fires, real ale and great food.
