I have just stayed at the Old Bothy with three female friends for three nights. All of the accommodation is beautifully presented and looks brand new even though it is more than two years old. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Situated on a working dairy farm in the countryside not far from Wigton. Only 20 or so miles from Junction 41 of the M6. Lovely quiet location - we hardly saw any farm activity - very little noise apart from the odd moo from the young calves and pregnant Mums which was very soothing. The facilities within the cottage were excellent and there was a lovely seating area outside. The weather was really warm and dry so we found ourselves sitting outside on several occasions. There was a beautiful welcome basket with freshly baked scones and home made jam together with a banana cake. Really lovely welcome from Joanne, Martin, Jess and Will. Great wood burning stove, but the cottage is so warm we only lighted it on the night of our arrival for the novelty value! Great location if you wish to visit surrounding attractions or you could stay at the cottage quite happily and just go out for walks or a cycle. We all felt really comfortable there and had a really relaxing break. We mustn't forget the farm dogs who are extremely well behaved and very friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable as well!
