We have stayed in many of pods in the Lake District, but this is by far the best.
On arrival we was met by owner - who informed us on everything we needed to know. The pods and toilet/shower are 5*.
We went for dinner in the evening short drive to the town Sedbergh (15mins) we went to the local Indian where you have to pay by cash and you can take your own alcohol - good value for money. We requested firewood from the owners to make our own fire pit in the evening which was £10 even included marshmallows.
We will be definitely be returning in the summer!
We genuinely couldn't have asked for more. The glamping pods, toilet and shower block, paths and facilities overall are brilliant quality. They are very well insulated and even when cold outside it's warm inside with an electric heater on the wall if you did want it any warmer (not needed for us!).
Decent sized fridge, dual hob, toaster, kettle & microwave mean u can be self sufficient but there are a few good cafes & restaurants in Sedbergh. Dalesman = pricey but nice ales & Dalesman steak is locally bred cattle worth paying for.
The views across the mountains are amazing then you've got the sound of the stream alongside the pods with lambs playing in the field next to you. All of this makes for a really relaxed setting. The deck with table and chairs were perfect for sitting and chilling out in front of your pod and if we'd spent longer here the fire basket would be amazing at night.
A good quality trampoline is there for children to use 100 yards or so from the pods, close enough to see the kids are safe but far enough that u don't feel like you're on a playground!
Couldn't recommend it enough...but hopefully they have availability for when we want to go back asap!!
We loved our stay st Howgills, the pods are really warm, cosy, well equipped and clean. Toilets and showers lovely and clean too, we toasted marshmallows and sat and enjoyed the beautiful scenery until the sun went down, will definitely return.
Just returned from a two night stay in one of the pods. Absolutely fantastic!!
The pods are fully kitted out. Super comfy bed. The kids slept well on the fold out sofa. Kitchen facilities are great, everything you need and more. Shower/toilets facilities are fab and spotless. Always kept to a very high standard. Glamping at the highest level. Will be back. Lovely owners who are very helpful even had cupcakes waiting for us on arrival.
My daughter and I stayed in Brown Moor pod at Howgills Hideaway and what a wonderful experience it was! The double bed had a very comfortable mattress (unlike many other places I've stayed) and it was great to have the bed ready made up for our arrival. The pod was warm and cosy and we loved eating both dinner and breakfast on our wooden decked area. We took advantage of the fire pit and toasted marshmallows long after dark. Siobhan and David were excellent hosts and even left homemade cupcakes for us. We'd ordered the English breakfast basket and it was delivered to our pod in the morning in a wicker hamper with top quality ingredients. We also hired extra bedding for the sofa bed for a very reasonable £5. The view was stunning and we woke up to a light frost, making the scene even more lovely. There were lots of extra thoughtful touches that set this pod stay apart from others we've stayed in. Highly recommended - we'll be back!
