Visited on Sunday November 11th.I had booked ahead but at 12 noon we were the only diners.however the walkers and dogs soon filled up.we were given a lovely table by a roaring log fire and a window view if the beautiful mountains. A large rhubarb and ginger gin and a game of Scrabble certainly hit the spot while we waited for lunch.the service was swift friendly and impeccable.the roast beef.....well possibly the best I have ever had, just melted in the mouth, and my sticky toffee pudding was to die for. My brother and I come to the lakes every November, and we shall certainly return here next year. Just one word if warning.parking can be difficult as by the time we left many cars were parked on the busy main road as the car park is clearly full if walkers cars

Old style pub in its layout, with old school tables. Parking isn’t the easiest but as we had booked our table was waiting for us, both near the door and fire. Great selection of food. I had the pie and it was substantial in size, full of meat. Great veggies with it but would be great with a few more. Great choice of beers and wine and all so reasonable. Would recommend a visit

Outstanding Sunday lunch. Beautifully cooked and served at a speed that would make McDonald’s blush. Best roast beef for miles

The White Horse Inn is next door to Scales Farm B&B, so very convenient spot for lunch or dinner. Food was good, the staff friendly, ambience great, and the prices reasonable.
Easy access to highway and not far from Keswick.

We booked a table at the White Horse Inn one day before our visit, so I was a bit suprised that we were given the table next to the front door. I would have thought that this table would have been left till last for latecomers, still we got plenty of cool fresh air everytime someone opened the door.
Anyway, maybe all the other tables had already been prebooked so maybe this was a good sign that this is due to excellent cuisine........no.
My wife ordered the Yorkshire Pudding filled with Steak in Ale on the specials board, but the Yorkshire Pud' turned out to be one of those supermarket frozen puddings, not freshly made and all a bit synthetic. I had oven baked Salmon fillet in Hollandaise sauce, which again lacked that something special, it was okay.
The serving staff were friendly and polite but I don't think we will return.
