We stayed in Wastwater cottage towards the end of the summer season and everything was just perfect!
The bathrooms have been beautifully renovated to add a little modern touch to the converted barn.
Inside the cottage is very roomy with the high beamed ceilings making it big enough for a family.
The kitchen is very well equipment with everything you could want!
The new beds were also a very nice touch!

We had been searching for days for a suitable cottage ( with a ground floor en suite wet room) to take our 92 yr old Dad for a little holiday. We had an immediate response from Greg when we enquired and he so patiently answered all our queries and assured us that the cottage was suitable for Dad's needs. Greg even arranged with his housekeeper to find a high backed upright chair to put in the sitting room as Dad can't get out of lovely squashy sofas. We arrived in atrocious conditions ( the start of the terrible floods in Cumbria) but the lights were on in the cottage and we very quickly found the keys using the secure key pad system. We were soon all settled in the wonderful warm cosy cottage which has been beautifully converted from an old barn. The whole place was SO comfortable and we felt very spoilt, all having our own (very new) bathroom, with super showers. The kitchen is extremely well equipped which was great for us as we intended to cook each evening, including a full Christmas dinner one night. Everywhere was absolutely spotless , the furniture very practical and comfortable. In the morning the beauty of the surroundings was revealed, and we could easily imagine opening the French doors on to the garden and having breakfast ouside on one of the picnic tables in the summer. The tiny village of Boot is so peaceful and we enjoyed a couple of quite long walks pushing Dad in his wheelchair, popping in to one of the two very local pubs on the way home. We can't wait to go back on our own some time , the hills are so accessible and we could see tempting paths in every direction. Luckily we were not affected at all by the flooding which caused such devastation in other areas of the Lake District.

“Wastwater cottage is in a peaceful setting but not isolated, being within a short stroll of 2 village pubs and a village”

We arrived at the cottage on a dark wet Autumnal evening yet on arrival we felt immediately welcomed, as the lights of the cottage were on and as we stepped inside it felt warm and cosy. The sitting room has an impressive vaulted ceiling giving a sense of space and there are plenty of doors and windows providing wonderful views of the fells that rise up opposite the babbling brook running alongside the garden. It is great to be able to walk from the cottage either to the pub, to Stanley Ghyll or to Dalegarth railway station. A perfect peaceful retreat.
