Beautiful stay!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 Apr 2018via mobile
Stayed here for 2 nights at end of March with 3 course meal for both nights.
Room was in the castle turret. Beautiful with a great view. Took a few steps to climb but worth it.
Ate at the 1851 restaurant both nights. Delicious food across the board. Great service.
Beautiful place for a few nights stay. Lovely grounds to walk in and some nice pubs to stop and have lunch/drink. Close to Chester Town which we visited (highly recommend). All in all fab few nights stay.

Well worth booking a stay. The room was gorgeous to say the least as was the bathroom.

We arrived home today after a very relaxing one night break and so enjoyed it we have already booked again.

The surrounding area of the castle and the castle grounds are beautiful, with plenty of areas to explore if you want to.

The staff are very professional and obliging and we ate in the 1851 restaurant where the food was excellent!

Many thanks to the staff who put in all their hard work!

We booked a one night sat for Friday 6 April and checked into the beautiful Tollemarch suite. The castle is gorgeous in lovely surroundings. We’d booked for dinner and decided to have a couple of drinks in the bar beforehand. Sadly there isn’t really a bar here. You are able to purchase a drink in the brasserie and sit elsewhere which wasn’t ideal. A venue of this class is certainly missing a dedicated bar area, where we would have expected bar snacks whilst we were enjoying our drinks. The current areas to sit are pretty soulless and I feel this lets the hotel down. We opted for the tasting menu for dinner which was very good. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet which was fine, We are very pleased to have been able to experience visiting Peckforton but it didn’t blow us away sadly.

From the moment we arrived at the arched entrance we were enthralled. The drive to the castle is surrounded by trees and is in a woodland area. We parked in the car park it is a little way from the castle but we managed with our overnight luggage. The outside of the castle is picturesque and the castle grounds are lovely and well maintained and well worth a walk round . There is a quaint little church within the grounds. The inside of the castle was what we expected from a castle of that age .The room we stayed in was old and very worn but within the up keeping of a castle . Our favourite place within the castle was the wine cellar where we sat and relaxed whilst having a drink. We booked a table in the 1851 restaurant . The starter I chose was a little unusual combination and quite tasteless. The main course was excellent , fresh , nicely presented , full of flavour and the combination of the flavours was amazing . The desert was nicely presented and tasted divine. The breakfast was very good . We found all the staff very pleasant and helpful. Whilst we stayed here we participated in the Landrover Experience which takes place in the woodland area . This is well worth it we had the most enjoyable morning .

We had a nice afternoon tea. It didn’t look like much when it came out but did fill us up.
The castle is beautiful but we were expecting a special experience but it was a bit standard.
There was a wedding on and it was a bit awkward arriving where the wedding guests were meeting the groom in the small reception entrance and we didn’t know where we were going.
Lovely setting & nice food but doubt we will return.

Stayed one night to mark occasion of Wife's birthday. Lovely venue, pleasant staff and good food. The ideal place if considering a hotel that makes an impression and can be remembered as that 'somewhere special'. Will definitely be looking to make a return visit.
