“Didn't live up to expectations!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

Stayed at the Rookery Hall for three nights on a half board basis. The place is really nice and well kept. After a 4 hour or so drive, we booked in with no problem and we were shown to our room. Room 106 is in the 'basement' of an extension attached. A nice room, but nothing special considering the rate charged! To be truthful, we expected better and have had better in less 'glamorous' hotels! We had a lunch in the garden thanks to the nice weather. Again, nothing special and overpriced! The food at dinner every night was excellent, but the drink is very expensive and, due to the deal we were on, there were supplements on certain courses which were, again, a bit pricey! We don't normally complain on prices, but Hand Picked need to look at their prices, especially wine!
I will give the barman Chris high praise for his service, top service and running about making drinks for all at the bar! The last dinner we had is reflected on our service score. We had our starter and main courses served to us in the space of just over an hour. We were asked for the desert menu, which we waited ten minutes on. Then, after half an hour, we left after being completely ignored by staff for our order!
Overall, the Rookery is a nice place, but nothing really special.

Attended my brothers wedding here this month and could not fault the Hotel at all !! , Perfect location for a wedding, Staff were amazing , especially the little lady who looked after the wedding. Rooms are very clean and spacious , with fantastic bathrooms which even had a telly in them. Breakfast the morning after was a delight I had the muffins Ham and Poached Eggs !!

Wouldnt hesitate on going back to the Hotel.

Thank you again

Simon

This is our third year running to Rookery Hall and we simply love it! Staff are excellent and the Spa is lovely to chill out and relax in. I had a wonderful hot stone massage while we were there this time. We have eaten here before, the dining experience is very special but its not really our thing so we went into Nantwich where there are some lovely Italian,Indian restaurants and so on. Nantwich is a pretty market town, perfect to have a look around and some nice pubs to stop and have a drink. Chester is about half an hour away by car,its an easy drive, we went there both days and did some shopping.
Getting back to the hotel, rooms are gorgeous, you get a robe to relax in.Lounge and bar area are very nice too but the drinks are v expensive. Thats not a complaint just saying it makes a very expensive evening if you stay in and don't venture out. Its set in beautiful grounds too and there is loads to do in the area.

I was delighted to be taken to Rookery Hall Hotel by my boyfriend for a valentines day meal and an overnight stay. The food was superb... kudos to the chef and fellow staff! we thouroughly enjoyed all the dishes but especially the lamb, melt in the mouth!
The ambience in the restaurant was fantastic, the music just to my taste and i reminesced with some lovely tunes.
All staff were attentive and couldn't have been more helpful, special mention to Earle and to Aggie.
The room was very comfortable and extremely clean, I had a really good nights rest in a quiet peaceful atmosphere.
Breakfast was lovely, and everything on hand you could wish for a breakfast repast, once again staff most attentive.Special thanks to the lovely Helen.
Overall a very special time which was enjoyed immensly by us both and will remain in my memory for many a year to come.
