Came here for dinner with my partner tonight, seated in a gorgeous little alcove and offered drinks immediately on arrival. Ordered the sea bass and the artful dodger burger, which were served within 15 minutes of ordering, both steaming hot and cooked to absolute perfection. Sea bass was glistening and fell apart at the slightest touch, melting like butter, and the burger actually kept my partner quiet for the first time! Desserts were both stunning, had the homemade eton mess which was perfectly balanced between sweet, bitter and creamy, as well as the sticky toffee pudding which was the sort of dessert your grandma would make after sunday lunch. Both of us were over the moon and can’t wait to come back and sample more of the menu! Massive compliments to the chef, and to the waitress who looked after us tonight

This place looked like a quaint country pub on the web site, but it’s actually a bit spartan, with plain decor and bright lights. The staff were very friendly and food very good. Accommodation was a little basic and in need of a bit of a refurb, but perfectly useable. Staff made up for the lack of coziness, so overall an OK sort of place for a night.

We stayed here in July as we were in the area to purchase a car, and this little gem was recommended by the car dealer, we were greeted by a very friendly landlady, felt at home straight away, we stayed in ground floor accommodation adjacent to the main building with good facilities it was also handy to be able to park directly by the entrance door to your room, nice atmosphere in the evening quite busy which is always a good sign, again landlady very attentive, good portions of very good food, good choice at breakfast, cereal, yogurt, full English and if you wanted something a little different all you had to do was ask, all in all an enjoyable stay and would stay here again if we were in the area.

I visited this restaurant during the middle of the week and apart from another couple eating the place was empty other than few drinking at the bar. Therefore the atmosphere was not as good as it might have been on a weekend night.

The restaurant was clean and tidy and we sat at a window seat which we asked for when booking over the phone. The booking was easy but we could only have a table in the bar eating area as the restaurant was closed.

The staff at the bar were all friendly and greeted us when we arrived and we had a pre-dinner drink at our table.

The meal was nice but only average in my opinion. I have certainly ate better in other pub restaurants. The meal for what we had and a drink included was not cheap.

Unless I was invited out to dine and the venue was there i personally would not select to eat there again.

Room Tip: Sorry i did not stay the night we only booked in for a meal.

Booked a family Sunday lunch based on good reviews, but find it difficult to understand good reviews, the pub has very little atmosphere, when we were there only a couple of young people appeared to be running the pub, the starters were acceptable but the main courses were very disappointing, from an overcooked dry pie, cheap burgers, and dry frozen peas and carrots, solid lumpy potatoes, overall a very disappointing experience, we had our young granddaughter and other family with us or else I would have complained, not an experience to be repeated.
