The resort is incredible! We wanted a relaxing holiday and that's exactly what we got. There really is something for everybody at this resort. We aren't "beach" people but did go in the sea a couple times. Wear beach shoes as it's pretty rocky.
The main Colonial pool was too busy for us (the kids area looked amazing!) and the adult pools way too quiet. The White Sand pool was perfect. Rodrigo and Elizabeth were did a very good job with the entertainment during the day. Servers Diego and Mario were awesome!
We had a Jr. Suite and it was perfect. Very clean and we found the beds and pillows comfortable. Can't comment on the quality of the tv as we never turned it on.
I timed it one day and it was a 5 minute walk from Villa 9 where we stayed to the Colonial lobby. Not a huge deal for us. We enjoyed the walking. But if you don't, or have mobility issues they provide transportation to get around.
Loved the buffets and thought there was a great selection of food. We also tried the Thai and Brazilian restaurants. They were incredible! We didn't have to wait long as we showed up around 7pm both nights. No wait at the Thai and about 10 minutes for Brazilian.
The shows at night were always good. We especially liked the fire show.
Overall we were impressed with the entire resort. There is so much to do and we never got bored. The staff work very hard to provide great service and keep everything clean.
We will definitely return!

Room Tip: Villa 9 is very close to the beach if that's what you like.

We came back to this hotel having stayed here 2 years before and loved it. They recognized our name when we arrived and upgraded our room which was a nice touch. After reading some of the negative reviews I struggle to see where they are coming from. The buffet was ok but you get unlimited a la carte, why would you go to the buffet? the restaurants were amazing, we went back to the steak house 4 times! The beach was fantastic and there are lots of pools to choose from. Someone moaned about the views being of just trees and no streets... Why would you book a holiday in the middle of the jungle if you don`t like trees? We loved our view and were even treated to some monkeys jumping past our balcony.
The hotel does need some maintenance in places but it must take a hell of a lot of work to keep somewhere this size so well maintained. The staff were great, especially Jorhe, we had no problems with service at all. The grounds are huge but as our hobby is going for walks we were quite happy to walk everywhere but you can get a golf buggy for a small tip if you like. The only negative we found was that in the evening we fancied a cocktail by the sea of the pool but everyone congregates in the lobbies so there is no atmosphere anywhere else, you can get a drink but it feels awkward being the only people there.
Overall we recommend this hotel, however we were going to get married here but were advised by first choice that they have stopped using this hotel due to the service level for weddings so we have chosen another hotel 20 mins up the road.

We took our two daughters who have to be gluten free to the Grand Palladium. Most of the restaurants have gluten free options. You are given a card to hand to waiter. We found the La Hacienda buffet and Viridiana the Captain very helpful in guiding us what are the gluten free options are available in the buffet. Some gluten free options are not out on the buffet but they will prepare gluten free pancakes, muffins, fries, pizza, etc. in the back just need to touch base with Virdiana and she make sure you have it. Only complaint is the tortilla chips are not gluten free, something that I wish the resort would reconsider. Have all the great pico, salsa and guacamole but could not put on the chips. The El Gran Azul buffet near the pool did not have anything gluten free and the staff seemed unaware of what the card meant. Buffet at beach also without a lot of options. Overall there are enough food options available for those who are gluten free. Many of the restaurants the chef would come out and talk with the girls regarding what options are available. The resort itself is beautiful, clean, well maintained. Loved the hammocks on the beach. The rooms were also very nice. Would definitely return as an resort option in the future and have already recommended to several people both with who are gluten free and on gluten free. Just as an aside, very limited number of outlets in room. Became a slight issue with trying to charge devices.

Room Tip: If you choose Villas 5-7 your halfway in between both the Colonial and White Sands.

the trip was great and made even better by Joshua from the travel club office at the conlonial building. He was very helpful when my family need to book an additional night due to a storm in the the states.

We went for a week. It was very relaxing, there were quiet areas and areas to be entertained.. something for everyone throughout the day and evening. We could not fault the food or drinks available. The staff could not do enough to help you. It was clean and spacious. It will be hard to top this holiday in the future..
