We traveled to Punta de Mita in May 2011 via rental car. We rented a car from our hotel in Nuevo Vallarta and drove to Punta de Mita (also called Punta Mita). It was about a 30 minute drive. We had planned to have lunch and take a snorkel trip from the St. Regis hotel. The hotel entrance is hard to find, but we asked around and that lead us to the gates which guard the Four Seasons, St. Regis, and other hotels. The snorkel trip to the La Marietas Islands was booked that day (from St. Regis), so we drove into the little town of Punta Mita, which is a few blocks from where the main highway ends. There are restaurants and small shops along the water and it is a nice place to relax and hang out. We were approached by a gentleman who offered to take us by a panga boat to the Islands to snorkel. There is a small marina next to a hotel that is on the same row of restaurants/shops. The marina is not easy to see. Ask around and you will be directed to an area with many boats. Our guy (his name was Rudy) was of German descent and he had a Mexican captain that drove the boat. They took two of us on a 2.5 hour trip to the Islands (about a 20 min boat ride) for $75USD. We were the only ones on the boat and Rudy told us it was our trip and we could tell them where/what we wanted to do. We had shade on the panga, and he gave us some history and detail about the island and the blue footed booby birds. The snorkeling was not very good due to poor visibility that day, but the tour of the islands and the swimming was very nice. There are over 20,000 birds that hang out on the 3 islands and people are not allowed on the islands. (Not that you would want to because they are covered with bird droppings). The smell is a bit strong if you ride close to the edge of the islands. Overall, we enjoyed the trip and the hospitality that Rudy and his captain gave us. Very friendly people in the area and plenty of free parking along the row of shops/restaurants.

Look no further – absolutely an amazing experience.

First let me say thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Regis Punta Mita for making our family’s stay so wonderful. We almost stayed at another Starwood property as we were unsure if this was what everyone kept saying and know we made the right choice! We had an amazing time and loved every moment of our stay in one of the most beautiful resorts on the planet! The grounds are spectacular surrounded by gorgeous landscapes both on and off land. What a treat to arrive and greeted with champagne, fresh iced teas, and a massage. The weather in early April was terrific and not one cloud the entire week. The pools at St. Regis Punta Mita are breathtaking. Although there was limited areas to swim in the ocean, the water activities allowed us to really enjoy the Pacific Ocean. Don’t miss the kayaking tour or snorkeling at Mariatas Island. It was my husband’s birthday the night we arrived and we were so touched by how the staff entertained us with a group birthday song when we arrived at our room and further surprised by how they decorated our room when we returned from dinner that night. The restaurants are excellent but a bit pricey so it was nice to venture out to Punta Mita and enjoy some of the local places. Casa Teresa is a MUST. Teresa and her daughter Nadiya are wonderful and you will enjoy every bite of the Italian cuisine. A wonderful and affordable way to see the island is to rent a golf cart for a day as you can visit some of the other areas and the local town. We ventured over to Four Seasons and were so happy we stayed at St. Regis. Our kids especially! This is the only vacation spot where my 8 year old cried on our last day when members of the staff gave her a big hug - so sweet. Thank you to Carl & Roberto. You have an amazing place and we look forward to our return!

Dear ginmar35
muchas gracias for your wonderful and detailed review of your stay and our property here! We will share these details with our staff, and I am sure they will be looking forward to welcoming you and your little one back.
With regards to your comments on the food and beverage pricing, we are in the process of developing new menus and will definitely take into account our guests' feedback, I can already share with you that we have a "all inclusive" concept for children in place, that just makes it easier for you to enjoy the time.
Hasta luego, best personal regards

Every morning we sat by the beach drinking coffee and reading the daily news - the breakfast buffet was to die for. Then we headed for a paddle session with my husband and some kayaking accompanied by the hotel's wonderful guide. There are 3 restaurants and three pools - one of the pools has a tall wall, like a cascade that the kids can jump off of. Our deck with views of the beach was completely private and we sat there for hours drinking tequila and reading books. In the evening, after an amazing dinner, we got into our private outdoors hot tub listening to the waves and talked for hours. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. My husband played golf every day and loved the course, especially the hole that goes over an ocean island. Next time we are bringing the kids and hopefully sending them to the Children's camp so we can enjoy another romantic weekend! Also, we were there for the Gourmet and Golf event that I would highly recommend to any food and golf lovers. The group of Mexicans, Canadians and Americans that attended was wonderful, and we made many new friends - although my husband was very unhappy about his game score!

Room Tip: ask for an ocean view with a private deck or balcy

Dear lauraydan
we are happy to learn you had a memorable stay with us here in Punta Mita, and enjoyed the Gourmet & Golf event! The Pacifico course with the ocean hole is definitely one that should be on the bucket list of every golfer, and is a true challenge. Glad to hear you enjoyed the kayaking and paddeling - the latter being a rather new activity that is gaining a lot of attention, and easy to do as the ocean is pretty calm around here, and no surf experience needed. I will be happy to share your feedback with our team, thank you for your feedback, this is what motivates the staff even further.
Warm regards
Melanie Schneider

This was our first trip to Punta Mita and we were blown away by the area. The St. Regis is located at the tip next to the golf courses. It has beautiful pools, lush gardens with winding pathways, excellent restaurants and smiling and helpful staff. My husband is a starwood preferred guest member and they upgraded us to a suite room at no extra charge. However, the regular rooms looked just as amazing. The beach was clean and the pool that looks over the ocean is stunning. As we laid out by the pool, we were brought fruit, cold water, and cold towels. We felt pampered.

The place is spectacular, the service incredibly professional and discreet. The rooms are gorgeous and very private. Having a butler at your service 24hrs a day is like a dream come true! Food and drinks are great, but definitely the best part of this resort are the people that work there. The staff is phenomenal. Can not wait to go back.
