We ate here 2-3 times during our month long visit in Ajijic. Their food is freshly made, good Mexican food. Menus only in Spanish, but some of their wait staff speak English. Very reasonable prices and good service.

In town for 10 nights..ate here 3 times...Perfectly located in the town square...Chilaquiles with eggs for breakfast was excellent. Prices LOW & quality HIGH..My wife loved the coffee with a hint of cinnamon..old fashioned "milkshake sized" glass of fresh squeezed OJ for 65 cents!! COULD have had breakfast OR lunch here..every day!! GO!!

Chile Verde is a tiny place with a big heart. The staff is super friendly and customers chat amongst themselves as the 8 or so tables are in close quarters. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a table at busy lunch hour, but it was worth it! The enchiladas with rice and beans were delish. The fish fillet was lightly breaded and fried, served with rice, retried beans and freshly made tortillas. You can see it all happen in the open kitchen area. Wash it all down with a cold beer or orange soda. Great prices too!

This was a tiny shop for bites that started as a hole-in-the-wall place where Mexicans ate, and when it moved to the Plaza just around the corner it took off as a full-fledged restaurant. Now the gringos have discovered it as an alternative to the other places around the town's central square with El Jardin, and the Indian restaurant as the major competitors, so the breakfast lunch crowd till about 1 pm seems to be mostly made up of foreigners/tourists and expats. Hands down Chile Verde is the most pleasant of them, with simple, but excellent authentic food. Today I had the Calde de pollo mole and it was delicious. I had a cup of the Mexican coffee that was freshly made for our table of 6 diners. Whatever I eat there, the staff is always friendly and quick, and the food great.

Location is right along the Plaza where the staff is welcoming and where all the food is prepared from scratch and is excellent at a low price. I overheard a local describing the restaurant as being owned and operated by 6 sisters. It is definitely a family affair. the food is excellent and I've been there twice.Their Chili Rellenos is outstanding.
