Don was absolutely lovely. He gave us a tour of the inn and was so kind when we called in to confirm details and the latest time for check in. We didn't have time to enjoy the labyrinth or the the pool because we had booked a boat ride and took our time enjoying the shops in Souris and surrounding area, but fellow travellers all had great things to say. The pool was spotless and the inn was relaxing. We are breakfast not he outside patio overlooking the ocean and loved every moment of it. The only thing I would change is that as we moved from bedroom to breakfast to the patio, we had to keep logging into the wifi and it didn't always work. Overall it was a great experience with spacious vintage rooms, fresh smelling laundry, and amazing smelling bath soaps and shampoos. We had a good sleep and the room was quiet. I recommend this location for ease of access to Basin Head and the surrounding area and the wonderful owners! I would stay here again for sure!

Room Tip: The view from the second floor is beautiful!

Hi LaraDeanne,
Thank you for your nice review! The internet/wifi has been the bane of this season's experience for many of our guests -- and for us as well! We tell people we have 'country cable' and we often refer to our location as being 'back of beyond' so anything more than checking emails and sourcing the occasional information site tends to slow everything down. The only fibre we have here is in our morning cereal offerings. The services available to us are just not capable of handling the bandwidth demands when our guests choose to talk on Skype, download files or watch Netflix -- it becomes frustrating for everyone and unfortunately will continue until our service providers find new solutions. Whatever happened to those people who used to be satisfied with sitting and sunning outdoors with a battery-operated radio for entertainment?
Thank you again!

Yes this is an older property but it's clean and perfectly located to discover this part of the island. The pool was refreshing and the breakfast was sufficient. Unique guest area's are part of the charm of this inn as well.

Thank you for your review, Ken. Perhaps we are revising the old adage to be, "we're not just getting older, we're also just getting better!" . We like your use of the word charm because that's something worth striving for and maybe we have had some success with that -- but of course there are others who would dispute it! We welcome everyone -- those with dashed expectations as well as those who delight in the place and don't care how many plug-ins we offer in the rooms!

Spent one night here on my Atlantic Canada tour this summer. This hotel has a definite retro feel to it (some may say dated), however I found it rather charming. Located far from the main tourist areas, in eastern PEI, this hotel is a stone's throw from the famous "Singing Sands" beach. An absolutely lovely place to visit. The hotel was quite clean, the rooms well stocked with supplies, and though old, everything was in good shape. The owners were the absolute best; beyond friendly and helpful; they provided me with many ideas on how I could enjoy my stay. The one drawback would be the price; it was on the expensive side. As was said in earlier comments, thus is the economic reality of the hospitality industry.
I would gladly stay here again.

Thank you, Grizinator, for staying with us and we hope to see you again. For over 25 years, we have been struggling with the room pricing question for our summer-season-only motel as we looked to balance increasing costs and the need to fill our rooms for the short season we operate. As you have noted, our pricing is “…the economic reality of the hospitality industry.” Our promotional activities have extended our reach beyond word-of-mouth and local east-coast tourism visitors but this has not been without cost given that we can be found by many search engines beyond our provincial government website. For those who have the time, our own website might be worth searching for special pricing opportunities. Thank you again for your comments.

This was the only place around. Breakfast was good. We paid more for this place than we did for a beautiful cottage. Although it was pretty clean, it was very old, no renovations done. We were on the main level. Owner was very nice.

We were in a pinch and this was available the breakfast was pretty good, with the standard fare (toast, muffins, cereal, etc.). The beds could have been a bit better. The shower had a strong spray but the temperature fluctuated. If all you need is a place to sleep, you can't go wrong here.

Hello Stephanie,
We recall your visit! Especially since were were expecting two adults with two small children that turned out to be teenagers! While we expect people to acknowledge older children for the extra person charge (as clearly communicated in your confirmation), as a courtesy to your daughters at check-in we did not make an issue of it. We are glad you found our breakfast acceptable and will welcome you when you choose to stay with us again.
