We were there in September so the shops were closed but there were still a few persons enjoying the beautiful beach of nice golden sand. There is a bridge that the young at heart jump from into the water. Just walking on the beach was perfect for us. I don't know how long the beach is, but we walked for more than an hour and we could have gone on for a while. And it's free !

This must be one of the best beaches in Canada. We must have walked 5 kms north along the beach and enjoyed our selves immensely. Worth the drive from Georgetown.

This is my favorite beach in PEI. The sands are white and sing. The ocean is warmer than other beaches and we enjoyed jumping off into the canal. The beach had multiple lifeguards on duty and the facilities were big and clean. There were places to get food and even a museum. Worth the 2 plus hour drive over from Cavendish.

Basin Head is considered one of the choice beaches in this eastern area of Prince Edward Island. Very popular place for the locals to go swimming.
On the sand dunes above the beach is the Basin Head Fisheries Museum, so you can combine swimming and learning about the local fishing culture. Do both for a couple of very enjoyable hours.

Not sure about the singing, but the beach is fantastic! Soft, white sand that's perfect to walk in. We arrived around 9:30, hardly anyone was around at that time. The water was a great temperature for swimming.

All of the amenities you need are a short walk away. There's a boardwalk to take you from the parking lot to the beach area. And showers part way up to rinse off before reaching the car.
