Well, heard of the tea garden, wanted to try it for ourselves....sooo,off we go for a drive and stop for tea and desert.
The view is spectacular from the window view table ,clean looking resturant, nice atmosphere
our young server,"Emily " was very nice and attentive...bless her heart.
The tea was so nice and "hot "...served so delicately with a teacup and saucer ...makes you feel so spoiled.
The desert...well it was not quite what we were expecting, and for the price we paid for it ...well let's say, been there done that...we still look at it as a special m/d outing.

I will agree with the majority of reviewers -- a significant cut above the usual NL deep fried/deep fried/deep fried, in a very attractive setting with a very pleasant wait staff. Scallops were cooked perfectly, but served with a curious candied caramel sauce. (Ask for it on the side and ignore it.) The salmon was a bit on the sweet side for our taste, but cooked perfectly, i.e. medium rare toward rare. The fish cakes were potato-based -- essentially "fish knishes" -- but very tasty. A busy place, so make a reservation -- and make it early, because like many NL restaurants, the kitchen closes at 8pm.

The Tea Garden is an amazing restaurant with top notch food, service, ambience and a stellar view. My guest and I both agreed the cod we had was the best we had ever eaten, and we've had cod throughout Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. The restaurant was so amazing, I would even recommend a trip from St. John's just to visit this venue. We'll be back and we'll not forget our meal or the amazing homemade desserts. You won't find a better restarting in Newfoundland. Reservations are recommended as several groups were unable to dine when they dropped in without one.

The food is amazing and the views are exceptional. Such a beautiful restaurant and the decor is lovely. And the staff were so helpful and friendly. Had the most beautiful lamb on the night I dined there.

Our landlady @ our B&B recommended The Tea Garden so we stopped in for PM tea & had an opportunity to inquire about how they deal w my wife's food allergies. We came away (after a very nice tea/coffee/dessert) w a reservation for dinner that night. Upon arrival we were given a choice (early in the season & early in the evening) of dining rooms & were advised that a table for 8 in the one room might disturb us so we chose the other. Window seat, beautiful view & as we were the only ones there, private. The meal was very nice & they were so careful w my wife who truly appreciated their efforts. Reasonable wine list (for NL - we found mostly dreadful wine lists throughout the province) & we had a lovely visit w the owner who told us the history of the place - if you get a chance ask about the rumrunning past. The price was reasonable & the service impeccable. I believe a small town like Holyrood is very lucky to have a place like The Tea Garden.
