Be sure to visit. The tour guide is knowledgeable and makes the visit special. Bradley played a significant role in resettlement and bringing NL into Canada. The house has been nicely restored. The admit fee also lets you into the lighthouse.

In the 1860's Benjamin Carter went to the Confederation meetings and said Newfoundland would join the new country of Canada. Didn't happen! The Mockbeggar Plantation explains why and why it took nearly 100 years to become a Canadian province. The house and furnishings are authentic, the story fascinating and well told by the guide. A must see!

Well its right next door to Neil's Yard, convenient but when we looked at Mockbeggar Plantation, it was not very impressive. So we chose to skip it. However as we found out it was closed anyway. But unless I'm missing something I wouldn't waste my time.

It's a horrible drive in to both so I certainly would not do it on a rainy day!

The Mockbeggar Plantation is located in Bonavista, on the Discovery Trail, Route 230 in Eastern Newfoundland. My wife and I had completed a cross country road trip in August 2017 and I returned in September to drive the few scenic routes I had missed. The Mockbeggar Plantation provides an interesting perspective of the times leading up to Newfoundland joining Confederation and offers insight into how the rich lived. You should plan on good day visit to Bonavista as this is only one of several interesting attractions in this historic town. The Provincial Government should be commended for their dedicated efforts to bring this piece of history to life.

A visit to this house is a must if visiting Bonavlista. It has been sensitively restored and the artifacts on display are very astetically pleasing. Our guide was very informative but definitely not a robot!
