Spoiled in Vancouver with lots of good cultural food. We eat Japanese often so have experienced everything from authentic and wonderful to 'nope, not coming back'. I would summarize this venue as come for the sushi only. First, we appreciated that the table service was quick and with smiles. The food was lacked luster: seafood salad - nice amount of seafood but the sauce had a soy sauce taste to it and in my opinion, did not do the salad justice; udons arrived very hot with the noodles overcooked; gomae - sauce was tasted too sugary and had a crunch to it versus a smooth sesame dressing; beef don - husband said it was okay; sushi - good. Tea is very expensive - over $3 per person - which is indicative of the overall pricing. If you eat here, I recommend the sushi.

A nice change to the ordinary in the village with some great varieties of Japanese food to try, also the sake and beers to enhance the night. well worth a try.

Went for the bento tray after being guided to sit at the sushi bar. Not busy for being lunch hour.
The Bento box contained delishious yam and prawn tempura, small sunomono sallad which was good, beef teriyaki with rice that was very bland and a California roll with imitation crab.
Over all it was a fair Bento, but slightly expensive for what you got.

When asked for drinks I asked for a common Genmaicha japanese brown toasted rice tea but they only had jasmine green tea @ $3.45.

What concerned me the most during my visit was seeing the sushi chef having to cough a few times, directing his cough down onto the floor without covering his mouth. His arms and hands he tried to keep away, but his right hand was still within droplet area. After coughing, without washing hands or using any kind of hand cleaning he went back to touching the sushi rolls and rice.

Thank Zarako

Tried to get a reservation action at Oya a couple of times and finally succeeded. Small wonder why tables are hard to get - the place is tiny and the food is very good. We were a table of 7 and we each ordered something different and sampled each other’s plates. I don’t think there was anything that was disappointing and most dishes were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Our friends told us that this is a branch from a Sushi place in Kamloops. If I were them, I’d be looking for a bigger place in SP village. Not sure what summer trade is like but in winter time this is a well deserved success. Definitely one of the best places for dinner in SunPeaks!

Delicious food! Fresh & tasty.
Cosmos are really good too, not too sweet. Small space though so get reservations or go off peak hours.
