Villa Suriyagaha is the perfect hideaway whether you just arrived in Sri Lanka or if you are about to leave. Approx. 45 mins by Tuk Tuk from the airport it is the perfect place to adjust to Sri Lanka or to chill before leaving. Nothing much to do but beach walks, chilling by the pool, having extended walks or boat trips on the mangrove rivers and watch the generous birdlife. Helen is a lovely host, breakfast is lovely and the place all in all true Villa Style. Would go again any time. Thumbs up!

Room Tip: Looking for local restaurant? Ask the TukTuk driver for the NICE PLACE. Good Sri Lankan food.

We stayed here as a family and loved every minute. Our family of 4 stayed in the 2 bed bungalow which had fabulous big spacious rooms, whilst my mother stayed in the main house in equally spacious accommodation. The pool is fantastic, as are the areas to lounge round the pool or sit and eat. We loved it here and would highly recommend for families that want to relax and chill. We loved the generous breakfasts, and Helen was a fabulous host, and was happy to help us out in any way she could.

Room Tip: All rooms looked great. We loved the 2 bed bungalow next to the pool.

Great welcome from Helen and her son Alex. Beautiful pool and garden. Good food. Comfortable beds. We enjoyed a good bird watching trip near here on the Dutch Canal and lagoon. We enjoyed medium spiced prawn and chicken curries on half board.

We were a party of four (two couples) and stayed at Villa Suriyagaha at both the beginning (16th-18th January) and end (28th-29th January) of our holiday, and what an excellent choice it proved to be.
The Villa is about 40 minutes from the airport where we first met with Helen, the owner. Arriving at the villa we were also met by Pat and Ron, Helen’s parents and former owners of the villa. Since there were four of us in our party we were accommodated in the 2 bedroom bungalow adjacent to the beautiful garden and swimming pool and it proved perfect for our needs. The bungalow also has a large living room, kitchen and two bathrooms.
We are keen birders and the well-kept gardens provided a marvellous introduction to Sri Lankan birdlife with many species present, particularly in the early mornings. The swimming pool was a fabulous place to relax in the mid-day sun.
We chose to eat each evening at the villa with excellent meals prepared by Helen and Pat although we believe that there are other restaurants a short walk or Tuc-tuc ride away.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Villa Suriyagaha as a relaxing destination to either start or finish a Sri Lankan tour.

Room Tip: We were in the bungalow which was excellent for us (two couples) however we were shown the other rooms by Helen and all were excellent.

We combined a 4 night holiday in Dubai with 9 nights at Villa Suriyagaha in Sri Lanka. It's our first time ever in a guest house outside of the UK so we were a bit unsure but we were soon left in no doubt we had made the right choice. Helen collected us from Colombo airport and we were greeted with one of Pat's lovely home cooked authentic meals from the start, which we looked forward too a different home cooked meal in keeping with the resort every evening with authentic spices. Although we did eat out one evening at Beach Road in Negombo we quickly wished we hadn't!

Our room was lovely with 2 balconies, one over looking the crystal clear swimming pool, the other the well kept garden. We enjoyed late afternoon showers with the window open for the view and sounds of nature.

The area around the Villa is pleasant for a stroll to the 2 local restaurant for lunch, the beach or to find a tuk tuk or taxi just outside the Ranwelli holiday village. We went on 3 excursions which included an elephant orphanage, herb and spice garden and tea factory tour in central province, Galle in south province and a local river boat trip, as well as regular visits to Negombo for shopping! Both of he local restaurants offer excursions or Ron can also provide assistance if required.

Ron, Pat and Helen are great hosts and as other reviewers have said, they certainly make you feel welcome together with their equally friendly 2 dogs and 3 cats, they go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay at Villa Suriyagaha and enjoy the many delights Sri Lanka has to offer. We appreciated the early breakfasts Helen provided prior to our trips and flight home as well as their thoughtfulness after a long excursion. The huge pot of tea provided with the breakfast overlooking the pool in the mornings in the relaxed surrounding's of the Villa gardens was truely tranquil.

We both can't wait to return to Villa Suriyagaha, where you are treated as real people with understanding of individuals needs, not by a hotel room number with poor quality service, which we have experienced in many hotels around the world.

Stayed: January 2016
